Mangaluru: Bharatiya Hindu Parishad should be scrapped: AICC member P V Mohan

Mangaluru, Jan 23: "Congress party is committed to secularism, we do not believe in vote-bank politics. Building a secular society is our aim, hence the Bharatiya Hindu Parishad (BHP) organization which was recently formed in Puttur has to be scrapped," said All-India Congress Committee (AICC) member P V Mohan.

The BHP was launched recently by a faction of the Congress party led by Puttur block Congress president Hemanath Shetty. Since then, some of the senior party leaders have criticised the move and asserted that Congress has nothing to do with the BHP.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday January 23, P V Mohan said, "Congress party has a history of over hundred years in India. It played a vital role during the Independence struggle. Secularism is the motto of the party. The small group in Puttur by creating the Bharatiya Hindu Parishad has hurt the sentiments of the secular leaders of the party."

"Congress party strongly condemns the move. Congress is accused of being anti-Hindu always but it is not true. Most of the party leaders and party workers are Hindus; former minister B Janardhan Poojary is a Hindu, we can see how he is playing a vital role in the development of Kudroli Shree Gokarnananatha Temple."

"A small group within the party are being misled. There is misunderstanding, and also something is fishy regarding BHP's launch," he added.

"The backward class of the society earlier used to get reservation of 20 percent but now Congress party has decided to raise the slab to 50 percent. No party in India has given so much priority to the wmpowerment of SC, STs and OBCs," he said.

"Membership campaign is in full swing and the Hindu backward class will be the priority so that they can also grow in the party. Congress party is not anti-Hindu. Bharatiya Hindu Parishad should be scrapped as it is against the principles of the Congress party," he reiterated.

In the past congress has made many mistakes and they are paying for that. Now someone has come forward with a wise decision to promote BHPand this is a correct time. I am a sincere supporter of congress from my childhood appreciate and welcome this move.

If this is scrapped congress will make another big mistake.

Is this meet called by the congress party or called by an individual? If party is against the idea of BHP like Mr. Mohan alleges, why didn't the party take any disciplinary action against the members who started BHP? On whos instance BHP started? why Mr. Mohan alone holding the press meet?

Mohanji,What is true secularism? What is meant by vote banking politics according to you?How do you term the event a few days back in Mangalore wherein Ramanatha attended a convention of SSSSF and next day gave a press statement that 'holding convetions on religious line is wrong?'In Bhatkal recently CM Siddanna was addressing amuslim peoples convention, what is that called.communal or non communal?Considering all these things of hypocrecy still you consider BHP sis communalist from Congress party? Is so why Hemanatha was not taken for task?Is it for fear of Congress party will further distance itself from majority community people? If not why BHP needs to be scrapped? What prompted you to conducte Press meet alone like this which itself is indicative of inner politics/politricks iun Congistan. So far in yester years Congistan was flourishing in the psuedo secularism and though late people have understood the real conspirecy of Congies, and they cant be fooled anymore.Modijis elevation PM post is an indication of these things. So big stalwarts from your party now stared siding with Modiji's theory which might have made you people to became pale. You can fool all the people at a time but not all the times.Have a kit kat...nice day!

Vote bank policy always works. We have seen BJP getting foothold everywhere with their vote bank policy. Congress should have "Bharatiya Hindu Parishad" should have "Bharatiya Muslim Parishad" should have "Bharatiya Christian Parishad" should have "Bharatiya Sikh Parishad" should have "Bharatiya Jain Parishad" on and on.......

Well said, awesome. muslims are communal and hence they don't think anything beyond their religion and congress since 60 yrs has suppressed hindus for appeasing muslims. revoking cow slaughter law is secular for congress though they know how muslim majority countries treat hindus, forget other countries, kashmiri hindus are driven away mercelessley in 1990 and congres wont utter a word for hindus, they are worried about mazaffar riots guj riots not not worried about godra carnage, not worried abt temples destroyed during mogual rule and in pakistan. congress wont speak for hindus and if BJP speaks they are communal so according to congress, hindus must tolerate, cry and live their life in fear. This will not happen anymore, hindus have united and the results is congress is biting the dust

RG is said to be the 'main man' behind all this Mr. Mohan. Be careful.... Toddlers can be very angry at times.

This guy does not know the origin , history, reason of the emergence of Secularism in Europe. And claims that India is a secular country. Why not, his top boss Sonia is from Italy a part of European Union. This hole needs to be shut before he omits more on India which is a Dharmic Society and not some secular society.

Not only BHP, all the outfits regardless of the party or religion they are affiliated to, should be scrapped. These outfits are not the protector of any religion or culture, rather a nuisance in a civilized society.
