Kundapur: Yeddyurappa, Shobha invite Halady to join BJP, turned down

Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (RJP)

Kundapur, Jan 24: That the BJP is stepping up its efforts to enhance its presence in Karnataka in a bid to root out the Congress government was very much evident on Saturday January 24, as two of its prominent leaders tried to woo, and not for the first time, a former BJP member who was and is popular among the people here.

BJP vice-president and Shivamogga MP B S Yeddyurappa along with Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje on Saturday called on Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivasa Shetty and invited him to join the BJP party.

But Shetty who had won the last election as an independent with the highest margin in the state made it clear that he will remain as an independent till the expiry of his term.

A seemingly unfazed Yeddyurappa told reporters later, "Halady is a man of principles and he has still three more years to go. As he was elected as an independent, he cannot just join a party and compromise with his principles.

"Karnataka may see elections soon. We will win more than 150 seats with the help of the party workers. We will get a majority in Delhi elections," he added.

Shobha Karandlaje who spoke later said, "In the forthcoming gram panchayat elections, BJP should be strengthened from the grassroot level itself. When I stood for elections, I won with majority votes because Halady Srinivasa Shetty and Kiran Kodgi supported me."

Halady Srinivasa Shetty speaking to the reporters said, "The voters chose me as an independent. I will continue as an independent only. My supporters have stood by me all the time. I feel proud that even the Narendra Modi wave did not touch my supporters. Joining a political party is an issue for the future which only my supporters can decide."

BJP district president Vikramarjuna Hegde, Kiran Kumar Kodgi from Amasebail, Zilla panchayat vice president Prakash Mendon, Zilla panchayat members rashvath Kumar Sheety, Ganapathy Sriyan, taluk panchayat president Bhaskar Billava, taluk panchayat president Deepika Shetty, taluk panchayat members Raghavendra Balikere, Halady Ramesh, Saligrama panchayat president Raju Poojary were present with others.

I salute Mr. Halady for his bold action and for public service without any intention like the corrupt yeddi and shobha. We wish Mr. Halady to contest election as independent candidate again and all of us (Muslims/Christians /Hindus) will vote you. You are a generous person and Yeddi should learn from you. Yeddi and shobha are opportunists and day decoits. Shame to these culprits. kick them out of karnataka

BJP looted and plundered Karnataka during their 5 year misrule and i seriously doubt if they will ever make a comeback into Karnataka.

The BJP leaders in Karnataka are unethical, shrewd and greedy politicians who will back stab their own party members and public for power.

I urge people of Karnataka to boycott 'Porn loving' blue janara parivar.

I do not know, Halady Srinivas Shetty will join back BJP.

But, after the visit of former CM of Karnataka Mr Yeddirappa and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, Mr. Halady's image & popularity has gone up more.

We wish Mr. Halady Shetty, all the best and hope he will take the right decision & render his services selflessly to the needy.

while considering for ministership, halady was treated like doormat and was intentionallly humiliated by asking him to come to bangalore to take oath on ministership and then ditched him at the last minute and considered others who they thought as more worthy of ministership.ok agreed.they may be right.

if that is the case then why number 1 leader of karnataka, former cm and bjp national vice president and future cm candidate mr bs yeddurappa going into a small time leader ,haladys house repeatedly to convince him to get back into party even though he is rejecting thier proposal every time?

they want his popularity and connect with the masses only untill elections and once they attain power ,then discard him and fruits of power will be enjoyed by some others.

as per thier opinion, he was too small a leader not worthy of ministership in thier last bjp govt in karnataka.now they got to know his importance.

modi and shah has to work on state bjp even if they attain power in karnataka assembly elections next time to avoid the repeatation of bjp's last govt in karnataka.

WHY HE HAS TO JOIN BJP NOW?

LET ELECTION DATE ANNOUNCE THEN AUTOMATICALLY HE WILL JOIN THE BJP....

IN LAST GENERAL ELECTION HE HIMSELF AND HIS SUPPORTERS SUPPORTED BJP AND SHOBA KARANDLAJE.......

EVEN HALADY KNOWS IF HE JOINS ANY PARTY THEN ONLY HE CAN DO JOB MORE EFFECTIVE THAN INDEPENDENT MLA....

NOW WHERE IS OUR JP HEGDE SAAB? HE MAY SOON JOIN BJP AS HIS RIFT WITH PRAMOD MADWARAJ WIDENING DAY BY DAY GOES! MONEY (PRAMOD) POWER VS MUSCLE (JP HEGDE) POWER......

a bachelor ,he has almost sold most of his land and his earnings and also has almost 60 lakh debt to the medical and other costs of poor peoples who come to him for help not only from his constituency but also from as far as raichur and gulbarga district and he doesnt send them empty handed irrespective of thier caste, color and religion even if they are not from his district tells about his humane behaviour.

kundapur was always a congress bastion including byndoor, udupi, karkala and kaup assembly constituency including the udupi loksabha seat.

halady srinivas shetty is the one, without any publicity worked for bjp which was a big zero in udupi a decade back so that bjp could win 4/5 seats in assembly and grab loksabha seat from congress.

but he never got the credit for the enormous contribution he gave to his party.not even considered for ministership even when his party had full majority.even after all this ,he never protested.

after the humiliation meted out to him last time by his party, people of udupi has shown who is the boss in udupi district when it comes to winning assembly and loksabha seat.

atleast now i hope state bjp had corrected the mistakes it commited last time if it wants to realistically win 4-5 seats in udupi in next assembly elections

BSY and Shobakka's union is so strong that both are together in ups and down.Perhaps BSY want more MLAs to show case them to Party HC.Recently,he begged HC to concentrate instate rather in the ceremonial VP post.He want to be president and MLA of Karnataka Assembly to take on Siddu Govt.It is true that without BSY ,BJP Karnataka vulnerable to defeat in future also.

As par as Hallady concerned, the wound inflicted by BJP and particularly BSY who on the last minute did not support him so that day the fate was decided by himself.

halady srinivas shetty(4 time mla) is a mass leader in udupi district.entered into politics with communist ideology and then as congress political worker and then entered into bjp bcoz he was sidelined by then congress leaders.

muslims in hordes vot for him in his constituency even if he stood from bjp ticket all previous 3 times tells about his popularity

halady has been humiliated by bjp no doubt and sad part is it was done intentionally to boot him out from the party so that other people who dont even have the capability to win can become mla with ur backhand support and later you will be sidelined.that plan backfired on them heavily and they lost the whole district to congress with bjp could not even able to secure deposit money in ur constituency.

state bjp has learnt the hard way of what people will reply if they hurt a honest and transparent leader.

without halady bjp cant win more than one seat in udupi in next assembly elections.

its better halady lay down some conditions to bjp and join again on ur terms to bjp as you are one of modi supporter.

without haladys backhand support it would have been difficult for shobha to win in last election against jp hegde.

bjp should also learn a lesson to respect its honest and transparent leaders.
