Rajasekhar wants to experiment with character roles

Chennai, Jan 26 (IANS): Actor Rajasekhar, who is currently awaiting the release of Telugu comedy "Gaddam Gang", says he will continue taking up hero-centric characters in films, but he is willing to experiment with "interesting" character roles as well.

"The last few years have been bad with many failures. That's when I decided I should try and experiment with some interesting character roles that are equally interesting. I was looking to do something very offbeat and that's when I decided to make aGaddam Gang'," the 52-year old told IANS.

"This decision won't stop me from taking up lead roles. I'll continue doing them as long as audiences accept me," he said.

"Gaddam Gang", which is directed by Santosh Jayakumar, is the remake of Tamil sleeper hit "Soodhu Kavvum", whose remake rights Rajasekhar bought for a whopping price.

"When I saw the film, I decided this was something I've been looking to do. I spent a lot of money on acquiring the remake rights as I believed it's a subject that should work irrespective of the language," he added.

A story about a group of failed kidnappers, "Gaddam Gang" is produced by Jeevitha Rajasekhar and also features Sheena, Achu Rajamani, Naresh, Raghu Babu and Seetha in important roles.
