Dubai: Charity projects in hand, SMKC gears up for fun-filled Family Day

Media Release

Dubai, Jan 28: Mother Teresa once said, "In this life we cannot do great things, but we can do small things with great love." This is what St Mary’s Konkan Community (SMKC) Dubai members feel and act when free to do something for the marginalized people of the society back home. The motto of SMKC Dubai has always been – "to wipe a tear and bring a smile".

With two projects in hand today - Snehalaya and Ullal Ashram - SMKC Dubai is gearing up for an outdoor event not only to raise a small amount for these projects but also to bring the community together to enjoy the pleasant weather in Dubai.

'SMKC Family Fun Day 2015' is scheduled for Friday, January 30 at Zabeel Park Gate No1 and it will be a day filled with fun and prizes galore. Competitive sports for all ages starting from tiny toddlers to senior citizens and team competitions will be conducted from morning 10 am, which will keep everyone running around on the lush green grass of Zabeel Park, until 6 pm.

Prizes galore will be distributed for winners in various competitions, spot prizes and other games.

Jet Airways ticket to any destination in India from Dubai, electronic items, dinner or lunch vouchers, beauty products and vouchers and many unlimited gifts and giveaways will be given away during raffle draw / novelty dance / bingo and other games.

Live performance by renowned singer Lancy Noronha along with Joseph Mathias will keep the crowd dancing to non-stop Baila and Konkani session during lunch time. Scintillating Hollywood / Bollywood music will be provided by DJ Wendell throughout the day. In action, guiding the entire programme will be the cool and calm Roshan D’Silva along with enthusiastic co-hostess, Leela D'Souza.

Fancy Dress competition for children aged 2-16 years is planned after lunch. Not only the winner but every participating child will get a “goody bag’ and a certificate of merit from SMKC Dubai.

Towards evening, an 'Exotic Carnival' - a dance parade for young and old is organised. So bring along a few funny or exhilarating costumes to walk down in a parade dancing to the piping Konkani Harry’s brass band and other folk songs in the air.

Entry ticket is priced at only AED 20 which includes breakfast served between 9.30 am - 10.30 am only, delicious lunch served at noon time and tea. Entry fee to the park is as per the DM park regulations.

Just for AED 10 in a raffle draw, one can be the winner of an airline ticket or electronic goods or beauty / dinner vouchers and other gifts also. Winner will be declared in a draw and prize reserved even if the person is not present at the event.

All surplus funds will be contributed for needy charity institutions and top up our established SMKC DXB Educational and Medical Trust Funds in Mangaluru.

Bring along your mats, shades, beach umbrellas, foldable stools / chairs, water, carnival clothes and fancy masks to enjoy the beautiful Friday to the fullest. It will not only be an electrifying but energetic full day program for all ages to enjoy.
