Kundapur: Man arrested for illegal transport of cowhides, vehicle seized

Kundapur, Jan 31: Kundapur police on Saturday January 31 intercepted an Omni car which was illegally transporting cowhide and arrested a man.

The arrested has been identified as Kodi resident Jabbar Saheb (48). Six cowhides were recovered from him. The police also seized the Omni.

Based on a tip-off, the accused was arrested by a police team led by sub-inspector Naseer Hussain under the guidance of Kundapur circle inspector Diwaker P M.

It is said that Jabbar has been dealing in cowhide business for sometime.

On Saturday, he was driving from Bhatkal to his residence at Kodi when the police stopped the Omni at Kundapur checkpost. On inspection, the police found the cowhides and also limbs of cows.

During interrogation, Jabbar admitted that he has been dealing in cowhides for sometime and selling the hide after drying them.

He was later released on bail.

Kundapur police have registered a case and further investigation is in progress.
