Puttur, Feb 1: A complaint stands filed in Kadaba police station against eight persons, accusing them of violating election code of conduct by getting involved with election campaigning even after expiry of time limit fixed for the same. All of them happen to be BJP leaders.

For the by election being held for Belandoor zilla panchayat constituency near Kadaba, BJP has fielded Pushpavati Gowda Kaluvaje as its candidates. Campaigning for this election was to end by 5 pm on Friday as per the schedule. These eight persons including MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, have been accused of publicly campaigning for the BJP candidate by organizing electioneering meeting in Savanur after the lapse of time fixed for the same.

It is said that while giving permission for the said public meeting, the officials, by oversight, had mentioned the time limit for holding the meeting as 10 pm on Friday. After realizing the mistake, the officials reportedly contacted BJP leaders and asked them to conclude the meeting by 5 pm. The BJP leaders are said to have ignored this instruction and continued to hold lthe meeting even after 5 pm.

As per the complaint filed by sector officer, Naeem Hussain, a complaint was registered against MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Sullia MLA, S Angara, Karkala MLA, Sunil Kumar, Puttur taluk panchayat president, Pulasya Rai, district BJP president, Pratapsimha Nayak, general secretary, Sanjeev Matandoor, BJP Sullia regional president, Harish Kanjipili, taluk panchayat member, Dinesh Medu, and some party workers.
