Mangaluru: Young designers display unique creations at Karavali College 'Fiesta'

Mangaluru, Feb 1: Creativity ruled the day as young fashion designers brought out an array of attires, splashed with vibrant colours and unique designs, showcased by a host of students who walked the ramp.

The occasion was national level youth fest 'Design Fiesta 2015' held at Karavali Institute of Technology here on Saturday January 31.

The event was inaugurated by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel by lighting the lamp.

Addressing the gathering, Kateel said, "I wish all the best to Karavali Institutution. May the students of your institution shine like stars. I can say that Karavali Institution has bought out many talents from different parts of the nation. I wish all the best to 'Design Fiesta' and to the students in all their future endeavors."

S Ganesh Rao, founder and managing trustee of Karavali Group of Colleges said, "I would like to congratulate both the organizers and the participants. I want to congratulate the teams for their sacrifice, commitment and the interest they have shown. Our youngsters need to be motivated. When our vision is clear everything becomes clear. We should develop national spirit in youth. I request all the youth to be enthusiastic and energetic and work towards achieving success. We should encourage and empower our youngsters, be it in sports, politics, education or any field. We should imbibe a spirit of nationalism, where nation comes first. Always keep the spirit on and I wish all of you shine like stars."

The vote of thanks was proposed by Reshma, lecturer at Karavali Institute of Technology.

After the formal function there was a fashion show competition where 6 teams from different colleges participated. The young designers impressed with their creativity that had a touch of both traditional Indian and western looks.

Photography, treasure hunt, clay painting, flower arrangement, accessory making and model making competitions were also conducted.

Latha G Rao, director of G R Education Trust, Dr Sadashivaiyya, Dr Narayanswamy, Prof Mohan, Prof Anand, principal, Karavali Group of Colleges were the others present at the event.
