Mangaluru: Meaningful drama 'Womb to Tomb' marks Bondel parish day

Mangaluru, Feb 2: The parish day of St Lawrence Church, Bondel here was celebrated on Sunday February 1 in a unique way with the staging of the meaning drama "Womb to Tomb" which inspired the audience.

All the parishioners gathered together as a family in the church at 10 am and Fr Patrick Sequiera, assistant parish priest, Pakshikere church celebrated the Eucharist.

The students who scored the highest marks in school exams were given prizes as token of appreciation, and also games were conducted for all the parishioners of the church. A delicious lunch was served to all the gathering, which was cooked by the parishioners.

The day culminated with a stage programme in the evening. Parish council vice-president Henbert Pinto welcomed the guests and audience.

Wilfred Alvares, secretary of St Lawrence Church of Bondel, read out the annul report of the church.

Achievers and winners of various competitions were felicitated on the occasion.

Daijiworld.com editor-in-chief Walter Nandalike, who was the chief guest, said, "It is a unique and joyous opportunity for me to participate in this celebration. When I saw the happiness on the faces of the children who recieved the prizes, it reminded me of my childhood."

Lauding the parish priest of Bondel, he said, "Fr Andrew has contributed immensely to development of the parish. The St Lawrence Church of Bondel is famous everywhere. I am ready to render all my support for any programme."

Bondel parish priest Fr Andrew D'Souza said, "Our parish is a family, and as a family we offer mass, play games and even have lunch together as a family. The spiritual richness, the talent, the hard work, the passion of the parishioners is making the church shine every time. I congratulate all the artistes and entertainment committee for organizing the drama which showcases the past tradition and culture to the present generation."

Fr Jason Monis assistant parish priest of St Lawrence Church of Bondel, Decon Ashwin Cardoza were present on the occasion.

Dorina Saldanha proposed the vote of thanks. Vivan Pinto and Rathulla Fernandes compered the programme.

Around 300 parishioners of the church performed in the "Womb to Tomb" drama which highlighted the evolution of tradition and culture.

    Congratulations Bondel Parishioners. Nice pictures. St Lawrence parish Bondel is doing very good work for the parishioners. Surprisingly the Photo no.1 says WELCOME (Top) & NO ENTRY (Down).
