Kalangann, Mangalore, Jan 6: First of its kind in Konkani poetry, "Kavita Fest'", under the initiative of Melvyn Rodrigues, Konkani's leading poet from Dubai, in asscoaition with Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Mandd Sobhann, took off on Saturday afternoon Cha Fra D'Costa hall in Kalaangann, Shaktinagar here.
The inaguration was held in a uniquely different way. Walter Nandalike, Editor-in-cheif of Daijiworld.com, inaguarated the two-day national event by writing a sentence on the white board, wishing the festival all the best.
Louis Pinto, president of Mandd Sobhann, and Shivarudrappa, registrar of Konkani Academy were other guests.
Melvyn Rodrigues was also present on the dais.

Poets from different regions of India were present, a good number of poets from Bhatkala Goa, Kerala, Mandya, Mangalore, Gulf and UK are attending the first day of festival.
