Engagement function at city hotel - Bride's ornaments vanish

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Feb 3: In an incident which clearly suggests foul-play, ornaments worth Rs 5,06,000 belonging to a bride-to-be supposedly went missing from her room in hotel in the city.

The engagement function of the girl had been organized in this lodge on Sunday February 1, and the ornaments kept in the room went missing in the afternoon.

The girl in question belongs to a family from Puttur, which is settled in Naguri in the city now. Her engagement with a youth named Shubham Khurana from Punjab was held in the said hotel. After the function, the girl had removed her ornaments, placed them in the jewel box, and kept them in her room, it is said.

She then locked the room at about 12.30 pm and returned to the hall to attend the remaining part of the programme. She went back to her room at 3.30 pm, picked up things including a bag in which these ornaments were kept, and reached her home at 4 pm.

On opening the bags she had brought from the hotel, the jewel box containing ornaments was found to be missing from the carrier bag in which they were kept.

A complaint about missing ornaments was thereafter filed.

There is a strict instruction from the Police dept that all Lodges and Hotels should install CCTV in the corridors. Then why this Hotel, which is also having function hall, has not installed CCTV ?
If they were having CCTV it would have been very easy to find out the truth.

Those who wear jewelery must be aware that they are being watched every second from every corner. A slight lapse from their side n leads to catastrophes

This is a problem with indian weddings...bride is initially decked with ornaments at the beginning, and then when it is time to party, they become irresponsible and don't take corrective action to keep the jewelery in a safe, secure, place (which is most definitely not a hotel room - whether it is 5 star hotel or 2 star hotel)...better interrogate housekeeping dept or front office receptionists!
