Mangaluru: Food poisoning in residential school - 22 hospitalized

Mangaluru, Feb 3: Twenty-two students of Morarji Desai residential school for minority girls in Deralakatte near here were admitted into a private hospital in Deralakatte on Monday February 2.

Relating to the incident, the district minority welfare officer has suspended five persons including warden of the hostel.

Azmiya, Nashiyat, Fauzia, Shahanaz, Qubra, Amina, Arifa, Kavya, Afrina, Tahira, Raksha, Nishmita K, Darshini, Ayesha, Sahira and several others got admitted into hospital after their health worsened suddenly after lunch hours. Students continued to report at the hospital even after the evening till late into the night, complaining of food poisoning symptoms.

Actual cause for the food poisoning is yet to be ascertained. Investigation by the department and police have to throw more light on the entire incident.
