Mangaluru, Feb 03: The district youth congress held a protest against the central government's land acquisition through ordinance, in front of the district Congress office on February 3 in the city.

Addressing the protestors Mithun Rai, president of district youth congress said, "The national youth congress is going to organize 'Kisan Sthyagraha' through out the nation. We have submitted the memorandem to all the tahsildars of all the taluks and also through out the state. Farmer's signature campaign is also being conducted and this will be submitted to the centre through the governor of Karnataka."

"The BJP is now considered as a u-turn goverment and MP Naleen Kumar Kateel is also behaving in the same way. He is now an 'anti-farmer'. The UPA goverment had passed the bill land acquisition, rehabilitation and resettlement act 2013 which was taking the consent of the farmers, and a proper environmental survey was conducted. But now all the power is given to the corporates, and the BJP government is acting as the puppet of the corporate companies and the government can acquire the land without the consent of the farmers."

"The protest is going to be intensified, the government has to withdraw the land acquisition which was passed through ordinance and the government has to work in favour of the farmers."

Congress state secretary Abdul Aziz and other members of the youth congress were present at the protest.
