Kundapur, Feb 4: A girl has complained to the Kundapur police alleging that she was abused and assaulted by a youth from a college.

The complainant, Sujatha (20), daughter of Paddu and Ganapa from Kavradi Paduvalthur, was allegedly assaulted by Keerthan Shetty.

Sujatha is a resident of Dalit colony in Paduvalthur and works for a cashew factory . The eight families who reside in the colony are dependent on a public well for their drinking water needs.
When Sujatha had gone to fetch water from the well after her work on Tuesday, Keerthan Shetty who was playing volleyball with others in the government school ground allegedly assaulted her and used abusive words, including insulting her caste.

There have been conflicts between youngsters who come to play volleyball at the ground and the locals, who often complain that that the ball would hit them when they go to fetch water from the well. The issue has remained unresolved. On the said day, the ball hit Sujatha upon which she expressed her displeasure. But Keerthan in turn went to the extent of assaulting her, she claimed.

It is alleged that the assault was so severe that Sujatha had fallen unconscious and her mother Paddu and the relatives took her to Kundapur government hospital for treatment.

Kundapur police have taken the statement from the victim, and also summoned Keerthan for inquiry. A case is yet to be registered.

'A case is yet to be registered'.

She was assaulted and humilated. And then there are some people who will curse her for converting to other religion.

Grow up guys learn to respect your own!

And to the Great Government of India I say
Do away with the reservation of seats for the OBC/scheduled castes, it benefits only a few.

Implement a minimum wage system that will surely bite into the pockets of our Great Industrialists but will ultimately ensure that every Indian is treated at par with each other and no Indian goes to sleep hungry.

The Constitution bestows right to protect the minority section that too from dalit community. The assault against minority community is a typical case of non-bailable offense and the person causing such assault has to be arrested and produced before the court. If there is a lapse of that, then the police department is waiting for a amicable settlement of the issue and the person causing the assault is a politically related person.

it is parents mistake to provide all the comforts to these youths. Let these youths work and study, all the problems will solve as they will not have time for f^&t :).
The main issue in Mangalore is these people have so much time and becoming a devil in rapes for all and assaulting.

When one complains of assaulting a woman and get admitted in Hospital,it is not enough only to summon the concerned Person. That can take days or month .Time enough to hide or vanish away from Police.Better immediately take Action and do something.otherwise they can even take revenge for Police complaint.Sometime Police also are neglecting .Is it because she is from poor/low caste Family or dont have enough Money to bribe them?when it was other way round how quickly Police ware there?.
