Bengaluru: Ban on Togadia - BJP members stage walkout, term govt 'dictatorial'

Bengaluru, Feb 5 (PTI): Continuing its protest against the ban on VHP leader Praveen Togadia from entering the city, opposition BJP today staged a walkout from the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and Council here.

When the House met for the day, BJP leaders entered the well of the House shouting slogans against the government, calling it 'dictatorial' and 'undemocratic'.

Congress and JD(S) members objected to the protest, saying BJP was trying to disrupt proceedings following which an argument broke out between the MLAs. As the situation turned chaotic, Speaker adjourned the House for ten minutes.

When the House resumed, BJP leaders again entered the well of the House shouting slogans against the government. BJP leader R Ashoka, alleging government of discrimination, said, "when they have given permission to other events, why are they trying to stop this one?"

He called the government's act of banning Togadia's entry as 'dictatorial' and 'undemocratic'.

Asking BJP MLAs to allow the House to function, Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa said, "You have showed your resentment both yesterday and now, government has also said what it wanted to, now allow the House to function and continue with the proceedings."

"Things should not exceed certain limit, please do not use the House for political reasons," he added.

JD(S) leader Y S V Datta said the House is being used for political purposes instead of discussing public issues. House should be allowed to function, he said.

Responding to the Speaker's call, Opposition Leader Jagadish Shettar said, "maintaining law and order is the responsibility of government; by stopping Togadia's entry into the city, government is trying to curtail democratic rights."

"We respect your (Speaker) request for smooth functioning of the House, but we are against the adamant attitude of this government. Hence we are staging a walkout," he said.

Following the BJP's walkout, the House proceeded with the Question Hour.Dubbing the Congress government as "anti-Hindu" and "anti-majority", BJP MLAs had yesterday raised the issue in the Assembly, leading to adjournment of the House repeatedly.

Police had on Tuesday banned Togadia from entering the city from February 5 to 11 on grounds that his "provocative and inflammatory" speeches would have "grave" consequences and there was likelihood of breach of peace.

    Dear readers,

While PM Modi saves one sadhvi saying she is from 'Village women'.

Now Karnataka BJP wants to welcome "Doctor Cancer" to spread the cancer.

Cancer may have medicine to cure. But communalism has no dose yet in India.A national party BJP now the weakness well whereas other parties don't know how to counter.

Why there is delay in implementing PM Modi's 10 years unconditional moratorium from communal violence?

Why BJP don't pass the 'Communal violence ' bill ?

    Jai hind

As expected..when the BJP came into power, it was confirmed that all these mischievous gangs would rise up again. Now the BJP is openly wanting the Goon to preach his propaganda and wasting the precious session which should have been otherwise utilized to discuss the need of the hour. I don't support any party but surely not BJP for its communal approach. Just after BJP came into power there has been so many communal riots arising. I even don't see modi doing anything for the nation except for visiting foreign countries and just showing up some proposals without them being implemented. God help the nation. So many innocent lives still live in darkness. Another 50years down the line India will still be same.

Modi and Thogadia were sworn enemies during the second tenure of Modi's Chief Ministership in Gujarath. Modi not only silenced Thogadia but he even ensured that Thogadia did not enter Gujarat during his CM-ship. This same VHP tried to defeat Modi during his second election in Gujarat. How is that the Karnataka BJP leaders have forgotten what Modi had done to Thogadia & VHP in Gujarat. Why no one had guts to protest against their own Modi at that time ? ( Pl read this detailed report in today's Vijaya Karnatakaa news paper).

Why is Togadia so infamous ????.
There are countless issues that require immediate aid among the poor and needy, hindus.Education, health, housing and so on.And he is not there to do any good.Every year the pilgrims and devotees lose their lives due to improper and inadequate facilities. He does not raise those issues, but has a voice to undermine peace in the society by deliberately targeting minorities. He is a trouble maker and does not deserve any sympathy.

Anyone who divides humanity should never be tolerated. Togadia's speeches are aimed at inciting communal tensions and those who can be incited could easily be provoked into unleashing communal violence. There are few like Togadia who need to be sent on one way ticket out of the country. People who try to divide cannot be called Indian Citizen. Swamiji who is supposed to teach human values to the society is becoming a inciting agent which is just like adding fuel to fire. It's a bold decision by Karnataka Government to not allow his speech. Remember Hinduism is age old religion which has survived centuries and does not need these saviours to protect it. The right thinking Hindus should speak up to prevent this break up society on religious lines.

bjp has no issue to discuss and the only thing they is to fight / disrupt / destroy / fight/ create terror etc. they have no guts to face the Govt and supporting unwanted waste like Thoogadia. ITs is shave for bjp to supporting this waste. bjp is always showing double standard. If they want to boycot the assembly let them go to hell and hide under the chaddi of Thoogadia. Karnataka people are now fed up with this opportunists and hope they will teach good lesson to them by rejecting all their candidates. I appreciate Mr. Reddi, commissioner of Police in Bangalore for not allowing the BHP Ebola virus in Bangalore. He should never be allowed to enter karnataka for ever.
