Kuwait: SWAK celebrates annual feast with splendid event

Kuwait, Feb 7: Shirva Welfare Association Kuwait (SWAK) under the presidentship of Alwyn D'souza celebrated its patron feast (Vodlen Fest) at the Indian Community School Auditorium – Salmiya – Kuwait on Friday February 6 from 6 pm onwards.

The program commenced with Manohar Prabhu MC of the day, welcoming the members and the guests, followed by a prayer by Urban D'souza. Committee members sung welcome song for which lyrics were written by Lancy Rodrigues and music was provided by music maestro Adrian Gomes. president of SWAK – Alwyn D'souza officially welcomed the entire guest and thanked all the members for their support. Secretary Doris Lobo read out the annual report highlighting the achievements of SWAK.

During the felicitation session, Fr Noel D'almeida and Vallie D'sa were the chief guests. The entire committee member along with Fr Noel and Vallie D'sa cut the cake to symbolically start the feast. Fr Noel delivered feast message. After introduction by Clifford D’souza, Vallie D'sa was honored with shawl, mementoe and fruit baskets by Fr Noel, Alwyn D'souza and Urban D'souza for receiving papal award for his service towards community. Lawrence D'Souza of Caesars group of restaurant was also remembered during this time. GVOM Morvine Quadras was honored with memento for his victory in Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 4.

Outstanding and merit students were honored by president Alwyn D'souza, Urban D’souza, Janet D'souza and Fr Noel. The sponsors, outstanding members and media personnel were also honored during the occasion for their contribution towards SWAK. All the past presidents were invited to the stage where 6 of them were present during the occasion. Audience enjoyed entertainment programme by SWAK members and their kids. Foot tapping dances were performed by Danica Monteiro, Alisha Gomes, Ashwin Correa, Avril, Mervis, Delma, Suzette, Nicole, Daniella, Ines Martis, Melina Serrao and group 'Crazy gang' (Astrel Menezes ,Carol D'souza , Carlita D'souza , Fevin Fernandes and Nicolas Machado).


Rib tickling jokes were enacted by Urban D'souza, Alex Fernandes, Anil and Renny. Rony D'cunha, Jasmine D' cunha, Morvin Quadras, Ashok Barboza and Jyothi Vaz sung Konkani songs 'Haunv Vethango Ghati Devun', 'Ye pori ye pori', 'Konn Gai Thi Choli', 'Nach Moja Bhangara' for which music was provided by Adrian Gomes and Alston Gomes. Alston Gomes presented Konkani instrumental performance with four different instruments proving his excellent talent which was mastered with hard practice under the guidance of his father music maestro Adrian Gomes.

A lot of spot prizes were given in between and during dance sessions. Lucky dip draw and housie were conducted to keep the excitement alive. Lucky member and highest lucky dip seller were honored with prizes. Votes of thanks were delivered by Robert Mathias.

Fr Noel and kids offered grace before meal. The well conducted programme came to an end with masala dance session by DJ Kiran and grand buffet dinner by Caesars Restaurant. The programme was well compered by Kuwait’s popular budding Konkani MC Manohar Prabhu and appreciated by everyone. Lights and sound were provided by 'Illuminations' Anand D'souza. Stage was decorated by Godwin. The program was sponsored by Lawrence D'souza, DHL Express- Kuwait, Valerian D'sa (Khalil Bahman and partners) and Stany Pinto. It was a fun filled get together for Shirva parishioners along with their family and friends.
