Kodi-Kundapur bridge, mini Vidhana Soudha inaugurated

Kundapur, Feb 7: Revenue minister Srinivas Prasad on Saturday February 7 inaugurated Kodi-Kundapur bridge and the mini Vidhana Soudha amid much fanfare.

The Kundapur-Kodi bridge has been constructed by the departments of revenue, public works, ports, and inland water transportation, Udupi, at a cost of Rs 5.70 crore, and the Kundapur mini Vidhana Saudha at a cost of Rs 4.90 crore.

Addressing the gathering, Prasad said, "District complexes are being constructed in all the districts and taluks in order to provide administrative service in one place. The administration should be smooth and effective. So, new hobalis are being formed along with new taluks. The extended sub-sections are being decreased in size in order to create new sub-sections, after discussions."

"District complexes are aimed at providing government service to the people at once place. Out of 30 districts, only 8 are without them. Mini Vidhana Soudhas are planned in 178 taluks in order to bring all the offices at taluk level under one roof. Out of 178 taluks, there are mini Vidhana Soudhas in 128 taluks and in 20 places, the work is in progress. Permission is obtained for 12 and 18 are awaiting approval. The work is going on at a cost of Rs 10 crore," said Prasad.

"The title deeds are being issued under Section 94C of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act. They will be issued to all the beneficiaries before March 2015. A meeting will be held regarding 9/11 rule on Tuesday February 10 and the ministers, MLAs, and officials will participate in it. This way the problems of the people of the coastal region are being solved," he said.

District incharge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, speaking after inaugurating the Kundapur-Kodi bridge, said that several improvements are possible with the cooperation of the revenue department. "Out of 1.30 crore RTCs, 80 lac are found to be faulty and those are being rectified through the department of revenue. More than 10 lac applications were pending due to scarcity of surveyors and the problem has been solved after recruitment of 52 new surveyors," he said.

MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty presided over the programme. Byndoor constituency MLA K Gopala Poojary, member of Vidhana Parishad Kota Srinivasa Poojary, town municipal council president Kalavathi U S, deputy commissioner Dr Vishal R, zilla panchayat chief executive M Kanagavalli, and Kundapur sub-division assistant commissioner Charulatha Somal were present.

Nine beneficiaries were issued title deeds and other beneficiaries were issued records of other facilities during the programme. Deputy tahsildar Muralidhar Shanbhag, food inspector Nagappa, women’s welfare department’s Sadananda, taluk panchayat executive Shashappa gave details of the beneficiaries. The contractor was felicitated on the occasion.

PWD department executive engineer S K Chandrashekar welcomed. Akshara Dasoha programme’s Seetharama Shetty and education department’s Venugopal Hegde compered the programme. Gayathri Nayak proposed the vote of thanks.
