Mangaluru: Anandotsava ’15 inaugurated at Nitte Engineering College

Mangaluru, Feb 8: College Annual Day and a state level inter-collegiate three day cultural and literary mega event, Anandotsava ’15 was organized by NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte on February 5. It was inaugurated by Dr Vishal R, Deputy Commissionerand District Magistrate Udupi, on February 5 at 9.30 am in the Nitte campus after lighting the lamp.

During his inaugural speech for students he said “Enjoy your journey and if you have to take decisions take now itself, because life is ahead of you. What you achieve itself is the satisfaction of your journey. Your participation and your dedication in your work is very important”.

“Engineering students can also prepare for IAS, IPS and KAS exams and
the government is extending training for the courses”, he added.



Dr S Ramananda Shetty, Vice chancellor, Nitte University in his presidential speech said “We in India have a total of 3,495 engineering colleges and more than 400 medical colleges. The European countries together produce around 1 lac engineers per year and around 8 lacs qualified engineers pass out per year in our country. This is the man power of India providing for the entire world. For our students to be more employable, we need to provide them with extra skills. This is the era of technology. The technology needs change,
and changes are inevitable. India will be the most powerful country in the world probably within the next 5 years and Innovation has to run all the time in engineering mind” he added.

Principal Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar presented college annual report before the audience. Aditya Poonja, Student coordinator explained the significance of Anandotsava. Dr I R Mithathaya, Vice principal and Dean read the list of academic toppers and Ganesh Poojary, Physical Director read the list of winners of sports and games for the prize distribution.

Amoolya welcomed the guests and Shilpa Shetty introduced the chief guest. Dr Vishal R and Ms Nibha Nayak introduced the Vice chancellor Dr Ramananda Shetty.

Vice Principal and COE Dr Shrinivas Rao B R proposed vote of thanks. Shashank and Ananya Rao were the M Cs. Shresta, Vaishnavi and Rakshitha led the prayer.

The most outstanding achiever of NMAM IT – 2015, college award instituted by alumni Sanjeeth Shetty was given away to Aditya Poonja, Final E&C and the best outgoing achievers of the departments was given away to Prieston Freshly Lobo (Civil Engg), Sathyaki Das (Mechanical Engg), Nishanth (Electrical and Electronics Engg), Aditya Poonja (Electronics and Communication Engg), Ashni (Computer Science Engg), Divya Kamath (Information Science Engg) and Sanjana Chiplunkar (Biotechnology Engg).

Prof Shalini K Sharma read the names of winners of Sanjeeth Shetty fellowship awards.

During the occasion, the national level sports champion Mr Nithyananda was felicitated with the best outgoing college sports person award and the other college sports champions were felicitated with trophy.
