Byndoor-Kasargod train service to start from Feb 9

Kundapur, Feb 9: Byndoor-Kasargod train service, which has been awaited for a long time, will start from Monday February 9.

Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the train service from New Delhi at 6 pm. At the same time, a local flagging off will also take place at Byndoor where MPs B S Yeddyurappa, Shobha Karandlaje and Oscar Fernandes and legislators Gopala Poojary, Halady Srinivasa Shetty, Kota Srinivasa Poojary, Pratapchandra Shetty and Captain Ganesh Karnik are expected to attend.

This is the only train service announced in the past budget for the state. The train service connects three coastal districts of Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod. The biggest beneficiaries are the devotees of Sri Mookambika temple in Kollur.

The actual service for passengers which will begin from Tuesday, February 10 has the following schedule:

Kasargod- 6.40 am
Byndoor- 11.50 am

Byndoor- 1.05 pm
Kasargod- 6.10 pm

The stops are: Bijoor, Senapura, Kundapur, Barkur, Udupi, Innanje, Padubidri, Nandikur, Mulki, Suratkal, Thokkur, Mangaluru Junction, Thokkottu, Ullal, Manjeshwar, Uppala and Kumble.

A local name for the train service is expected to be announced during the inauguration today.

    Instead of two northbound local trains starting from Mangalore and Kasargod in the morning, why not one in the morning and one in the evening. It will help the passengers from both the side.

    Train should extend upto Bhatkal because bhatkal is a major revenue and good infrastructure station with 4 tracks available to halt the train and only technical training centre of krcl presence here. any issues related to technical can be solved here.

    Why not for a change few lines from Mangalore Goa Mumbai and Goa-Mangalore- Bangalore??? Some ne should think of few services benefiting DK and Karnataka! Our people hardly travel to Kerala! Bangalore, Mumbai, Goa is generally frequent travel needs of DK people! Why railway is pampering Mallu's all the time??? Is it our elected leaders lack courage for generations?? I am not against Keralites, they too are part of our country. My opinion is Kerala gets more railway route benefits than Karnataka and so also employment!! Any answers???? We had two central railway ministers recently!! We can not blame any political party!! We must blame lack of political will power!

    This train should have been diverted towards Puttur – Subramanhya instead of Kasaragod since there are already trains from Kerala towards Mumbai – Pune running via Byndoor. Indeed the Mallu lobby is still influential despite no ruling party MPs at the Centre. It’s understood even our trusted Ex-Railway Minister, Mr. DVS bowed before them when he stated it was impossible to create a separate division for Mangaluru.

    Please note to start a train from Subramanya Road we need to have Pit Lines for cleaning etc. I agree Kasragod doesn't have Pit Lines but the train goes to Kannur I,e empty for cleaning etc. In subramnya Road we cannot take the train to Hassan due to Ghat Restictions, HMRDA etc. I totally agree that our Coastal belt has been sidelined with regarsdf to Railways because of the negative approach by our Politicians from the Coastal Belt. Moreover Mangalore Central and Mangalore Junction should be merged to Konkan Railway. This is the only solution. Also we need to have trains from Mangalore to Hubli, Ahmedabad etc. I request all our Poloticians to look into the actual difficulties we are facing and I hope the Current Railway Minister who is from Konkan Region takes interest and merge Mangalore area to Konkan Railway. This will help in the overall development. Also we need to have HMRDA scrapped and because of this we cannot run more trains to Bengaluru

    Byndoor station has single line at the platform/station. This train can not stop for long time here. During the one hour break before the return journey, this train has to move to Bijoor/Shiruru/ Bhatkal to allow the other trains to pass. So why can't this train be extended to Bhatkal, where many lines are available to take rest for this train..... and this help many passengers from Bhatkal/Honnavar side......

    Cheap minister Nidramayya already refused to bear the cost of railway projects to be implemented in Karnataka in the future from state government part.
    This Dongi government has crores of money to spend on alcoholic & freak ministers like Ambarish !!!
    Dont worry Nidrammayya enjoy as mucg as possible before public bury your Dongi party alive in Karnataka. the process of erdication of Pappu and scam amma party already started though out the country!! Final nail will be hit in Karnataka!! till that time enjoy poor people's hard earned money!!

    Jossey, Suresh Prabu is a thrift minded politician & more of a CEO Material....I'm sure he does not want unnecessary costs coming in, hence 'auto' inauguration at Delhi

    But then at Byndoor, all our biggies are there to hog limelight, including husband-wife jodi, & good for nothing Oscar who did ZERO work for DK or Udipi....so there you go!!
