Davangere accident: Five killed, several injured

Davangere, Feb 9: 5 persons were killed and 17 were hurt when a multi utility vehicle toppled on the national highway near Hunasakatte in Davangere taluk on Sunday, February 8.

Ramakrishna (35), Rajappa (30), Lakshmama (45) Lakshmi (42) and the driver of the vehicle Ashraf Ulla (35) are the persons deceased. They are all residents of Nittur village in Harihar taluk.

The injured have been rushed to Chitradurga district hospital for treatment.

The occupants of the vehicle were travelling to go to Reddy camp near Bellary to attend a wedding.

It is said that the vehicle toppled due to the problem in the axle blade which got cut during the travel. Rash driving is believed to be the cause for the accident,

A police case stand registered. Deputy Superintendent of police (Davangere rural) G S Nyamegowda visited the spot.
