Mangaluru, Feb 9: St Antony’s Church, Kulur completes 127 years after its foundation on Monday February 9. Enshrined amidst the diverse beauty of nature, the hillock has witnessed the miraculous transformation over the years. The new church building which was inaugurated last year is a witness to this. Since then several development projects have been taken up by the parish under the missionary leadership of Fr Herald D’Souza.
The old church grotto, which stood like a jewel on the crown, had to be demolished with the widening of national highway and landslides succeeding it. The picturesque view of the evening sun set in the Arabian Sea, overlooking the Phalguni River, made the grotto as visitor’s favorite.
The foundation stone was blessed and laid for the new grotto at the same place after the holy Eucharist on Sunday February 8 by Fr Herald D’Souza.
The parish community gathered in large numbers to herald the fulfillment of yet another dream on the spiritual hill. Sr Agnes, superior, Samudhra Tare Convent and Arnold D’Souza, vice-president, parish council also joined hands in laying the foundation stone.
The parishioners rejoiced at the great things God had done to them.
