Hubballi, Feb 12 : Chief of Sri Rama Sene Pramod Muthalik has repeated his old stand on Valentine's Day, declaring that love should not be limited to one particular day.

"Sri Rama Sene opposes this foreign culture of celebrating love on Valentine's Day. But on the same day, we have decided to unite lovers, irrespective of caste, in wedlock," said Pramod Muthalik, convenor of Sr Rama Sene.

"Whatever caste or religion they may belong to, we will unite them in wedlock, with the permission of their parents. Lovers can contact us in this regard, and we will perform their wedding according to Hindu tradition. If boy or girl is found to be of a different religion, then first they have to accept the Hindu religion and then we will perform the rituals," he said.

"Already six couple have contacted us to help them get married, and we are in the process of convincing their parents," he added.

Muthalik also said that youth should perform 'Mata-Pita Puja' (parents' worship) on February 14, instead of celebrating it as Valentine's Day.

The cases are relating to making inflammatory speeches, inciting hatred between religious groups, conducting training with intent to carry out violence. Pramod Multhalik has over 45 cases pending against him, and is wanted by the police in 11 districts of Karnataka. Most of these cases are still under investigation and relate to subversive activities, defiling religious books, unlawful assembly, violating prohibitory orders, and evading judicial warrants. Most were filed between the years 2000 and 2008.[1] A look at the chargesheet makes it clear that he has never been arrested for any of these cases.[7][8] On February 19, 2000, Muthalik spoke at Malebennur in Harihar taluk of Davanagere district. He remarked at minority communities and questioned their loyalty to the nation. The Harihar police filed a case under Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code. Two years later, the district magistrate banned his entry into Malebennur and surrounding areas.[1] On January 10, 2002, he was banned from entering the Bailhongal taluk in relation to communal incidents in Kittur. The ban also included fellow Bajrang Dal leaders Vilas Pawar and Manoj Hanagal.[9]

Muthalik is an admirer of Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi. He regularly attends an annual function in Pune to mark the death anniversary of Godse.

I do not know why you harp year after year that love should be shown everyday and it should not have a special day. Do you not know that each festival has a special day fixed to high light the importance of renewing our sentiments and give meaning to it?? That does not mean we express love on one day only. Similarly, does one celebrate Diwali or to that matter any other event such as Republic Day, Independent day everyday? Does this mean we are less patriotic??

We are happy when Diwali is celebrated in Canada. We are happy when Americans do Yoga. We are happy for many Indian tradition adopted by others. But, we an intolerant to adopt anything foreign.
We celebrate independence day only on 15th Aug, though we have independence all the time. Thus, we have mothers day, teachers day, labour day. We don't have problems with that.

What is the real motive behind this? By celebrating V-day no culture is degraded. But what Muthalik wants is a mystery? Instead of this he can conduct mass marriages (once in a year) for all the caste couples. Muthalik please provide your email id or address to contact. His idea is great. Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival that celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters the festival is also popularly used to celebrate any brother-sister like relationship and brother is telling sister that I will protect you and they will tie a bandan knot on that day.
