Sharjah, Jan 14: It was a beautiful evening for Dhwani Prathishtana with yet another milestone of its achievement, arranged for the release of a book in Kannada.

It pepped up the literary spirits of many who had gathered and a rare opportunity for those who love reading kannada books, it was a beautiful evening indeed!

 
The first Kannada programme of 2007 was held in the Mysore Palace Restaurant Sharjah witnessed the release of  “Jagadolagina Jaadoo” , a collection of columns written by film star-magician Om Ganesh for 'Kundprabha' published from Kundapur.

The author with his rich experience of having acted in 14 films, perfomed magic shows and travelled to 21 countries has turned into a seasoned writer. Articles of a wide variety, some with a gentle touch of humour, some annoyed and some carrying sad pictures of the pathetic conditions of the Indians struggling in the Gulf. All the columns have a kind of grip in them that makes you read the whole book without keeping it aside.

The event was organized by Dhwani Prathishtana, which has dedicated itself serve Kannada literature. Prakash Rao Payyar, convener of the Dhwani Prathishtana welcomed the guests of honour,  Sarvottam Shetty, author Om Ganesh, Irshad Moodbidri and Manohar Tonse.

Irshad Moodbidri introduced the author to the audience, while  Manohar Tonse reviewed the book. Kastoori Moolimani introduced  Sarvottam Shetty and Manohar Tonse while Thimmappa poojary introduced Irshad Moodbidri. Arthur Periera extended a vote of thanks. Gopika Mayya compered the function in Kannada.
 
Initially the programme commenced with salutations to 'Kannada Maate' by young girls and boys.  Sarvottam Shetty spoke on the occasion in appreciation of the author and Dhwani prathishtana. An overwhelmed Om Ganesh, as he thanked everyone who gave him an opportunity to release his book in UAE, explained why he wanted his to be released in Sharjah and thought there could not have been any place better than this as there was a strong presence of Kannadigas here.
