Mangaluru: School boys caught consuming ganja at Valachil

Mangaluru, Feb 14: Mangaluru rural police on Saturday February 14 took four minor boys into custody for allegedly consuming ganja after school hours at Valachil.

It is learnt that the boys are students of 9th and 10 standards.

Sources said that they were caught consuming ganja near Valachil railway track.

Based on authentic information from locals, the police arrived at the spot and rounded up the boys.

However, no ganja was found on the boys but they admitted that they did indulge in the act.

Police sources also said that the students will be released with a warning after the issue is brought to the notice of their parents.

    GANJA. Most of us Indians are terrified of the word and misunderstand it to be some kind of hard drug. In reality,it is still way safer than cigarettes or alcohol. The minute something is considered illegal, it immediately becomes a taboo in society and ends up attracting more attention, curiosity and crime.
    I am in no way encouraging school kids to do it.
    I am only of the opinion if the Government legalised it and found an effective way to regulate it's production and sale, the country would do a lot better than it is doing today.
    I know I am inviting a lot of hate comments. But this is only my opinion.

    It is felt that these young boys hail from good families. It is bad company and drug peddlers who have caused this problem. It is therefore expedient that one goes to the root cause and the genesis of the problem. It is the people who hawk drugs who are to be questioned and booked.

    By booking these young boys their careers may be ruined. THE ONLY POSITIVE ANSWER IS COUNSELING apart from getting the cooperation and support of parents to eradicate this curse.

    Where there is a College there is illegal activity. I am very familiar with Valachil area. College students from 2 colleges are involved in many illegal activities. There are many PG houses around both colleges and activities taking place any day and every day. Same story is in Deralakatte-Konaje area. This is the story everywhere around the world. Where there are Colleges,there are problems. Parents and Govt. is paying the cost and youngsters are living the life of ignorance..
    These kind of students are future of the Country and The World.

    Ok agreed that they are high school students, no need to spoil their life by putting FIR. Just warn them seriously they may change. But grind them to from where they get ganja or who supplied them. Police can easily catch the ganja peddler if they really want to arrest them.

    What parents or teachers can do..-?? Both don't have any rights to scold their students/childerns..!!
    Police should stop supplying ganja/tobacco,and inform human rights team to control minor childrns. They are might have good ways to control minors and improve moral values in them. Because always they interfere in between parents and teachers duty.

    Its easy for Police to trace of how did those minors got access to ganja. just show a small taste of "lati", nothing will happen. Don't worry about human rights activists, we all know they are useless.
