Mangaluru: Gold worth Rs 18.90 lac found concealed in passenger's rectum

Mangaluru, Feb 19: In yet another case of its kind, the officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport on Thursday February 19 seized gold worth Rs 18.90 lac, concealed in the rectum of a passenger.

The accused passenger Mohammed Sharoon, aged about 22 years, is a resident of SMB Lane near Kandathpalli, Mangaluru.

Six 10-tola gold bars totally weighing 700 grams, valued at Rs 18.90 lac, was found concealed in his rectum.

Sharoon arrived at Mangalore International Airport from Dubai on Thursday at about 08.45 hours by Jet Airways Flight No 9W531.

Further investigation is under progress.

It may be recalled that in a similar case, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Mangaluru had on February 3 intercepted a passenger at Mangalore International Airport and seized gold biscuits worth Rs 16.33 lac that were concealed in his rectum.
