Kasargod: Couple found dead after consuming poisoned food

Kasargod, Feb 20: A couple was found dead after consuming poison at Delampady on Kerala and Karnataka boarder here on Thursday February 19.

The deceased have been identified as Delampady residents Podia (63) and his wife Bhagirathi (52). The dead bodies were found in a shed next to the house of their relatives.

Bhagirathi was suffering from a stroke for sometimes. Podia was also sick and unable to go for his work. He was a daily wager.

Food mixed with poison was found in the shed. It is suspected that Podia might have served poisoned rice to his wife, later ate it himself and committed suicide.

The relatives had searched for them as they were nowhere to be seen in the morning and found their dead bodies.

Adooru station police conducted an inquiry. The dead bodies have been kept in Kasargod general hospital mortuary.
