Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (HB)

Udupi, Feb 20: It is said speed thrills but kills. In an incident that took place here on Friday February 20, speed coupled with negligence nearly killed a college student.

Viniyl D'Souza (21), a first year engineering student of NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte  was seriously injured in the accident that took place on the highway at Nejar, Santhekatte.

Sources said that Viniyl and his friend were racing in separate bikes from Kemmannu to their college in Nitte, when Viniyl's bike rammed into a tipper approaching from the opposite end.

His friend who was riding another bike escaped unhurt.

Viniyl was rushed to Manipal hospital and he is said to have sustained serious injuries.

It is said that the tipper driver had tried his best to avoid the collision, but the bike was moving at a high speed.

Viniyl is a resident of Kemmannu.

Now a days this is fashion of young boys...Poor parents can't do anything.. becoz too much torchar from these young children... latest generation.. parents suffering from their children. They don't have money but they are taking loan from bank and buy bike to their son. This is the story of middle class family. So my advice is college has to council these type of students and advice them not bring two wheeler to the college.

    Dear parents,
Spend wisely money on your children.
I have seen on some students' bikes written as my dad's gift or my mom''s gift. Actually it is but surely it is not from God.'s gift.
GOD will bless us with something in a perfect age or time where HE knows that we can handle it.

It is good that God stopped his race before entering highway at Santhekatte, otherwise it will like Formula 1.

Youngsters please do not show off like this on highways or on by roads.Really I fee sorry for his parents. When Youth comes in, they seems to forget the world and the ground level. They want to fly high. Hope and pray Viniyl will be fine soon.

So many of our youngsters losing their "valuable" life because of road accidents, mainly motorbike accidents which has taken many young life because of lack of education on "Value".
While giving them bike/car etc, parents need to educate them about the value. It is not just value (Cost) of bike/car but the value of life. Value of his/her own life, to make them understand the value of time/life which parents spent to acquire money to buy this bike. Once they educated on this, they will respect all other values including value of education.

    Get well soon,
There are incidences I personally came across in Mangalore,,,, bike (2 wheeler) overtakes you at any time and any side,,, that time only I felt there is no rule, no written test to get driving license. Most of the drivers are not following any rule while entering the main road, whilw taking the U turn or going in a circle(round-about)
No give-way system for who comes from right side, whoever enters first he is a king.
Even they are wrong >>>> they ask can't you see????

Hope he recovers soon. Every time, during an accident we all blame heavy vehicles but there are quite a few two-wheel riders who drive too dangerously. This morning, I was surprised to see two speeding bikers were trying to overtake my car on Gurpur river bridge. One succeeded on the right side and narrowly avoided crashing on to an indica coming from opposite direction. The other one sneaked through the left. I just noticed him at the right time or else my car would have rammed him causing serious injuries. I stopped the biker after crossing the bridge and by the time I could get out of the vehicle, he sped away. The other common problem I see every day is two biker's riding side by side on busy roads chatting each other and thus blocking traffic.

Youngsters will never learn the lesson, so many accidents happen and so many lives are lost. I wish the parents will be cautious while providing the bikes to the youngsters.
