Melbourne, Jan 22: The Indo-Czech pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Radek Stepanek on Monday defeated seventh seeds Israeli duo of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram to reach the men's doubles quarter-finals of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

In a third round battle, Bhupathi and Stepanek beat Erlich and Ram 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-3.

They will meet second seeds Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden and Max Mirnyi of Belarus in the quarters.

In the boys' singles, India's Rupesh Roy lost to Kevin Botti of France 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the first round.
