Bengaluru, Feb 21: In a tragic incident reported at NR Road here on Saturday February 21, an elderly man died after a speeding petrol tanker hit him while he was crossing the road.

Boniface Derrick Sequeira (65), a resident of Ejipura, Bengaluru, is the deceased.

Flavian D'Souza has filed a complaint in Ulsoor Gate traffic police station in this regard.

As per the complaint, Flavian and Alex Sequeira, a friend, were travelling to Mysuru on February 21, and on their way they were supposed to pick up Derrick Sequeira.

They had parked opposite the LIC building on NR Road, waiting for Derrick. When Derrick was crossing the road, a petrol tanker (KA-52-6367) rammed into him.

Derrick who sustained serious injuries was rushed by ambulance to Victoria Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the tanker, identified as Paramesh, a resident of Shankaranagar, Bengaluru was taken into custody. He has reportedly admitted that he was at fault.

In the complaint, Flavian D'Souza urged that the family of the victim be compensated.

Derrick Sequeira, married to Maria Luisa Sequeira, was an active member of some of the social service organisations, and an active preacher in Bengaluru and Honnavar. He was involved in social service, striving to uplift the poor and school dropouts.
