An Arab expatriate man found to be suffering from Aids escaped health inspectors in Saudi Arabia, triggering a massive manhunt by the Gulf Kingdom’s law enforcers.

The unidentified man had undergone a medical test for a cooking job in the western Saudi town of Medinah and it showed he is infected with the killer disease.

“When he was told about it, he ran away. We informed the police and the concerned authorities, who are still searching for him,” ‘Sabq’ newspaper said, quoting Khalid Al Harbi, assistant director of the health department in Medina.

Foreigners in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf oil producers are required to have a medical test for new visa or renewal of their residence.

Those found infected are isolated before they are deported to their home countries
