Mangaluru, Feb 23: Mangaluru city south assembly constituency organized a public outreach meet for ward no 56 Mangaladevi, 57 Hoige Bazaar and 58 Bolar ward at Cascia Church hall on February 23 in the city.

The programme began with the invocation by corporator Rathikala.

Addressing the gathering, MLA J R Lobo said, " The main intention of the public outreach meet is for the government to come closer to the people in order to provide solutions to their problems. We will try to find solutions for various concerns today, and some of the concerns will be discussed with officials. I am here today not to give speeches but to provide solutions to the various problems."

" All applications received today will be looked into and a solution provided. People must participate and raise their concerns toward the respective departments. In the past we used to conduct public outreach at taluk level. The crowd turnout used to be huge and concerns of individuals were not addressed. So we have now divided the taluk in order to organize smaller public outreach meets for few wards together where every one can place their concerns."

" I would also like to thank the management of Cascia Church for providing space free of cost for the good of society. We have only main departments available today like food, civil supplies department, MESCOM, revenue department, department of women and child development and police. I request all to make use of this opportunity."

MLA J R Lobo also distributed various benefits to the people. Cheques were distributed to physically-challenged people, free gas stoves to beneficiaries, pension to beneficiaries and ration cards were distributed.

The event evoked a good response and a number of people submitted applications to the MCC regarding road issues and concerns, power concerns with MESCOM, pension issues to the revenue department, ration card problems for food, civil supplies department hoping that MLA will resolve their problems that ranged from individual grievances to public issues.

Mayor Mahabala Marla, Deputy Mayor Kavita, local corporator Rathikala, opposition BJP in the corporation council Premananda Shetty, Dr Ashok assistant commissioner, ACP Kalyan Shetty and others were present at the occasion.
