Kasargod: Murder of youth at Kumble - Four arrested

Kasargod, Feb 25: DySP Ranjith and his team have arrested four persons in connection to the murder of Mohammed Sakir of Kumble.

Farooq (27) from Koippady, Basith (22) from Kuntagaradka, auto driver Faiz (22) from Kumble, Logi Siddiq (32) from Arrikkadi are the persons arrested frrom Puttur.

Police have also seized a car from them. Farooq is also an accused in the Abdul Hamid murder case that took place a few years ago.

Mohammed Sakir was murdered on Sunday, February 22 after a dispute arose between some youngsters over a pass issue during a game of football. The murder took place later in Kumble town. Following the incident, miscreants went on a rampage pelting stones and down shutters of shops.

On a tip off, the police from Kumble reached an undisclosed place in Puttur. The accused upon knowing hearing about the arrival of the police, tried to flee from the spot in a car. But the police managed to apprehend all of them. It is said that during the time of their arrest, the accused were drunk. Siddique was driving the car.

The weapon used for the murder has not been traced yet. No concrete motive has been established so far for the murder.
