Karkala, Feb 26: The rural police here have succeeded in arresting three accomplices, who had helped their friend, Muhammed Asif from Borgalgudde, to befriend a poor dalit girl by claiming himself to be a Hindu bachelor. Asif had thereafter allegedly raped her at a shed near his home by promising to marry her, although he is already married and has three children.

The arrested people are Yogeesh, Vijaya, and Ravi, from Nitte Lamina Cross in Parappady. All the three were produced in the court whereupon they were remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
It may be recalled that Hindu activists, after coming to know that Asif had deceived a dalit girl by faking himself to be someone else, had thrashed Asif before handing him over to the police.
