Shivamogga: Prohibitory orders to be in force till March 2

Shivamogga, Feb 26: The town has returned to normalcy after the recent disturbancces. In order to ensure that the situation does not get vitiated, the police have extended prohibitory orders till March 2. These orders will not be in force during the day, and restrictions will be on between 6 pm and 6 am for the movement of vehicles. Sale of liquor also has been barred during the night.

Eastern zone inspector general of police (IGP), Nanjunda Swamy, said at a press conference held here on Wednesday February 25 that restrictions have also been placed on movement of motor bikes during nights, as it was found that motor bikes were used in several cases of arson in the town.

Restriction on movement of two-wheelers will be in force between 9.30 pm and 5 am. In emergency cases, two-wheelers will be allowed to move about subject to certain checks, and the security personnel will issue passes for these vehicles after satisfying themselves about the genuineness.

The IGP said that so far, 182 persons have been arrested relating to disturbances.
