Kuwait, Jan 27: The much awaited Claud Nite organized by Shirva Welfare Association Kuwait (SWAK) was held on January 26 at Masra Hawally Hall evening.

SWAK came into existence in the year 1994 which was formed to help the underprivileged in the field of education, health and basic needs in Shirva Parish. Nitin Castelino heads the current executive committee of SWAK as president. This programme was held as a mark of its completion of 12 years of its existence.

The programme was compered by Leslie Rego. Curtains were raised at 4.55 pm with an instrumental ‘Oh Beauty’ followed by the song ‘Konkan Tharam’ sung by Konkan Kalaashree Claud D`Souza, Anitha Samson and Rony D`Cunha.

The highlight of the event was a performance from Claud, who was back in Kuwait with loads of his latest and popular Konkani hits. The performances by young singer Anitha Samson and local singers Allan Pinto, Lancy Rodrigues, Saritha D’Souza Dilon Noronha won great appreciation.

The most popular singer in Konkani world Rony D’Cunha accompanied by Claud D’Souza with his latest hits songs like ‘Dream Girl’, ‘Jive’, ‘Hi Pori Konachi’, ‘Sopna Sundari’, ‘Vadianthlo Roce’, ‘Konkan Tharam’, ‘Raja Rani’, ‘Bapoipona’, ‘Konkani Shikoi’, ‘TV Serial’, ‘Dhandia’, ‘Photographer’, ‘Balle Balle’, ‘Wilma Maria’ and ‘Estha’. 

The rib ticking jokes by the comedy duo Dolla (Adolphus Cutinho) and Kulla (Sanjeet Rodrigues) and Claud D`Souza, Leslie Rego, Rudy, Rennie, Anil and Rinna brought spice into the performances.

Parish priest of Holy Family Cathedral Fr Melwyn was the Chief Guest. Alexander Fernandes felicitated Fr Melwyn.

Artistes Claud, Dolla, Anitha Samson, Sanjeeth and Leslie Rego were felicitated by Fr Melwyn. 

The main sponsors of the event Lawrence D`Souza of Caesars Group and Co-sponsors Felix D`Souza, Elias Santis, Harold D`Souza, Al Zahra International and Al Qabandhi Est. were also honoured for their support.

To mark the event a souvenir was released by Claud D`Souza.

A flavour to the entire programme was added with the scintillating music provided by Music Maestro Adrian Gomes. 

Delma, Jason and Sangam group of dance brought life to the stage with their dance performances. With the song ‘Dev Borem Korun’ by Rony, Claud and Anitha the music Nite came to an end.
