Mangalore, Jan 27: Two day ' State-level Children's Chess Fest-2007' being organized by Lourdes Central School in association with Derik's Chess School at LCS Auditorium witnessed record participation of more than two hundred players across the state. Players from Chitradurga, Hassan, Shimoga, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and many more are taking part in this prestigious event. Good number of participation witnessed from many rural parts of the coastal belt signifying the way this game has become popular among kids.

The event was inaugurated by the chief guest MVCS Karanth, DGM, Karnataka Bank. He also played a symbolic move against Master. Nihal Manjunath.  KS Kamath, CA,  Fr JP Tauro,  Prasanna Rao, Grace Noronha, principal LCS, Vimala Monteiro, secretary, PTEC; Edward Lewis, ex-president, PTEC and Veerendra Alva, convener were also present on the dais.

Rapid Chess tournament is being conducted in 10 categories.
