Muscat: Shaam-e-Sargam, another milestone by Spandana

Muscat, Feb 27: Spandana means emotional heartbeat or vibration, which essentially is within every human  being and can be roused from within. Spandana Team of Muscat were instrumental in raising the heart beat of Muscat music lovers in enjoyment recently.












































After  super hit programs like Raag Anuraag, Yaadon Ki Baraat and Sangeeta Lahari in the past three years,  Spandana Team in association with Majan Events presented Shaam-e- Sargam at the Sur Ballroom Hall, Hotel Muscat Holiday on February 13.

Spandana is a group formed in 2011 with a strong conviction and a  striking message "together we can make a difference". The logo, too, conveys their vision and their humble endeavour to embark on their fourth milestone" Shaam-e-Sargam. 

Shaam -  e -Sargam was indeed  an evening to cherish and the music lovers present at The Sur Ballroom, Hotel Muscat Holiday, were enthralled for almost four hours of  melodies, ghazals, instrumental music, Bihu song, fast medleys. The stage was set for rhythm ,beats, musical notes and vocal strains.

The musical serenade commenced with the welcome address  by  Shri Koni Prakash Naik,  the convenor  of Spandana .

Apart from Koni Prakash Naik, spandana team consists of Riyaz Ahmed , co convenor, Ramesh Shettigar, Nagesh Shetty, Jaya Ramesh,  Ramanand Kunder, Karunakar Rao, Umesh Bantwal, and Zuber K S.

Convenor Shri  Koni Prakash Naik, Ramesh Shettigar and Nagesh Shetty  presented   floral buoquets to Shri G V Ramakrishna , head, national sales and expat services, Bank Muscat. Shaikh Kaleem, proprietor, Majan Events, Ashish Shaha, Al Bahja Group of companies,  Diwakar Shetty, managing director, Multitech Contracting LLC , Chengappa, senior general manager, Khimji Group,  and Syed Mohideen Saheb, proprietor, National Construction,Trading and Projects, as a mark of respect and affection.

Prarthana's aim to touch  every one’s hearts through music succeeded as was evident in the packed hall and encouraging crowd. Prarthana Choudhury, a versatile singer , regaled the audience with her varied bouquet of musical compositions. Her renditions of different genres kept one and all glued to their seats. 

No doubt she is blessed with not only music in her veins, but also  "down to earth" attitude and humility  , which was evident.

Nicknamed  'Malenada Mari Kogile' Naveen Kumar , in his unique style , kept the tempo going with his on stage gusto  as an anchor, singer and artist. He complements the artistes and the musicians at ease , thus enhancing the effect. His stage presence and foot tapping numbers were making the crowd , dance in elation .

Most of the numbers sung were all time favourites of the audience as well. 

Melodious numbers like 'Ayiye Meherbaan,  Deewana Hua Badal ,Teri Meri   Meri teri, Kaisi Paheli, Elliruve, Guruvara Sanje, Ninna Nodalendho,Mokedha singaari, lovely ghazals and duets like In Aankhon ki, Kisi Ranjish, Rasme Ulfat enthralled the gathering.

Bihu, a folk song , a concoction of different lyrics and rhythm, was superbly presented by Prarthana. Another fast number ,'Yeh Mera Dil', 'Damadam Mast Kalandhar', amongst the other pieces was well appreciated. A fast medley , a fabulous mix of popular numbers like Piya tu, Dum Maro Dum, Ram Chahe, Santoshakke, and Baila songs got some of the enthusiastic music lovers on to the floor,  dancing to the tunes .

The local artistes Sumanna Shashidhar  sang 'Tam Nam Tam Nam',  Saakshi Dinesh sang 'Kariya I Love you' and Divya  Kotian presented 'ndu Aparoopada gana' along with Naveen in the duet round. The  local artistes gave a good chorus support for Guruvara Sanje .

Each instrumentalist and the percussionist from the youngest drummer Santrupth G R Vedanthi (local artiste) to the keyboard player Deepak, Lokesh on the flute, Rajesh Bhagawat on the tabla, Raj Gopal on the guitar, Ronny on the base guitar, Naveen Achar on the rhythm pad, played awesomely to the joy of the music lovers. 

The invocational piece, 'vaatapi' ...in Raag Hamsadhwani , interspersed by Prarthana and Naveen Kumar, the vocalists, with a short and crisp melodious  stanza ,  welcomed the audience .

They played an excellent  round of  short musical pieces involving the audience, and rousing the musical spirit.

The artistes Prarthana Choudhury and Naveen Kumar, the musicians and the local artistes were presented mementos by the guests and members of Spandana Team.

Mementos in appreciation  for all their support in the culmination of the musical evening, were presented to Shri G V Ramakrishna, Shaikh Kaleem, Mohammed Riaz and Antony Lawrence by the convenor and the members of Spandana Team .

The vote of thanks was proposed by Karunakar Rao  and he expressed wholehearted gratitude to the Sultan of Oman, to all the  sponsors, support sponsors ,Hotel Muscat Holiday and their staff, artistes, musicians, and  local artistes and Majan Events, the event manager. He expressed his thanks to the volunteers and all well wishers for their unstinting support and encouragement.
  
As the program was coming to its curtain time Spandana's  slogan 'together we can make a difference' was written all over the brimming faces of satisfied crowd of music lovers and of course the Spandana Team!
