Mangalore, Jan 29: The front rows of seats in a bus may be reserved for women, but it has become common for men to enter through the front doors and make their way to the back.

In a release, Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, has said that only women could board buses through the front doors, while men have to enter through the rear door. The decision was taken after considering the requests of several individuals and organisations, he said.

Penalty

Bus owners, drivers and conductors had been intimated about the rule, he said. Those found violating it would be penalised, he added. The rule will apply to all city and service buses in the district.
