Bangalore: CM Promises Konkani as Third Language in Schools

Bangalore, Jan 29: It was a long-pending dream of the Konkani-speaking community to include Konkani into the school curriculum. On Sunday, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy pleased the community by announcing that Konkani will soon be made the third language of study in schools.
He added that the officials concerned will be directed to place the subject before the Cabinet for discussion.
The CM was speaking after honouring Shirtadi William Pinto, advocate, Robinson D' Souza, Principal Secretary, Karnataka Legislature and Lawrence M H Mendonca, a Dubai-based industrialist at the annual day celebrations of the Federation of Konkani Catholic Associations.
The event was held at Joseph's Indian High School here. Archbishop of Bangalore Bernard Moras presided over the programme.
