Melbourne, Jan 29: Tennis legend Rod Laver said there is too much talent in one body and he is a great player and has a good chance of being the best ever. He was about none other than Roger Federer.

The world number one inched closer to that feat by winning his 10th grand slam title in Melbourne on Sunday. Federer, in fact, didn't drop a set enroute to the title as he beat Chile's Fernando Gonzalez in the final of the Australian open.

Federer beat Gonzalez 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 to win his tenth Grand Slam title.

"I'd like to again and again congratulate Federer. He has played great today, throughout the week and all through his life. Many congratulations," said runner up Fernando Gonzalez.

That pretty much summed up what had been a Fedelicious fortnight at Melbourne Park.

Federer believes he's now closer to winning the only significant title missing from his list of achievements, the French Open. And that can only be a warning for his opponents, one that on current form they will have to take seriously.

But even without a French Open title, Federer has done enough to prove his complete dominance of men's tennis. With 10 grand slam titles, he is now 5th in the list of total titles; Sampras leads that one with 14.

Federer is the first man to win a Grand Slam title without dropping a set since Bjorn Borg at the 1980 French Open. In fact, Federer has not dropped a set in 11 matches now and that's saying a lot for his dominance.

He also becomes the first man to win three of the Grand Slam events at least three times each; this was his third Australian Open title.
