Mangalore, Jan 29: The Sacred Heart Church celebrated parish day on Sunday January 28 at Suratkal here.
The celebrations began with thanksgiving Mass offered by Dr John Fernandes, professor and head of the chair, Mangalore Diocesan Chair in Christianity at Mangalore University along with parish priest Fr JB D’Souza and assistant parish priest Fr Frederick Monteiro.
As part of the celebrations, cultural programmes were also held. Fr. J B D’Souza, parish priest presided over the programme while Fr Wilson D’Souza, secretary, Catholic Board of Education, Mangalore Diocese and Lancelot Pinto, corporator were the chief guests. Ligory D'Souza, parish council vice-president welcomed the gathering. Peter D'Souza Kana, secretary of the parish council presented the annual report.
"Amka Lottery Utla" - a Natkulo short drama written by JB D’Souza Kulshekar was enacted by artistes of the parish.
Prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions. ‘Late Johnny Misquith Memorial Rolling trophy’ for the best ward was presented to Sacred Heart Ward on the occasion.
Jyothi D'Souza and Roydon Roche compered the programme while Alfred D'Souza, convenor, youth committee proposed the vote of thanks.
