Mangalore, Jan 30: This has been a season of good tiding to Konkani.  While a number of programmes are being held in every nook and corner of the coastal belt under the aegis of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and leadership of Eric Ozario to promote Konkani, the government too has signalled green to introduce Konkani in schools as optional language.  The efforts put in, energies spent on this singular cause seem to be yielding desired result.

Mandd Sobhann, premier Konkani organization that has been working to promote Konkani culture, traditions, language, art, literature for the last couple of decades has welcomed the chief minister's statement that the next sitting of the cabinet will decide on the issue of the introduction of Konkani in school curriculum. 

Mandd Sobhann has also requested the chief minister to recognize Kannada as the only script for Konkani text books.  It has also expressed its gratitude to Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy for its leadership and perseverance in the matter of Konkani in schools.
