Fire appears in rubber plantation in Moodbidri, destroys plants

Mangaluru, Mar 2: A fire has destroyed a rubber plantation at Mithotta in Mantradi village near Moodbidri.




The fire was seen on Sunday morning at around 10 o’clock. The local fire brigade was called and it extinguished the fire after it reached. But the fire by then had damaged an area of one and half acres. The loss has been estimated at Rs 2 lacs.

The rubber estate belongs to Chacko Joseph of Kerala origin. The reasons for the fire are not known.

Later the fire appeared in the neighbouring estate which the locals managed to extinguish.

    nobody knows the cause of fire.so we should not doubt unnecessary on someone.That itself is a faultor call it a sinn.most probably when it is too hot,no rains,dry weather,from above burns sun,and itself enough to start a fire.we all know from School in chemistry what can happenhot sun reflects on glas and falls on dry paper or dry leaves.In America,australia,or some dry places,same Problems ,we heard.In india People have bad Habit of Smoking beedy and throw later carelessly.that itself is enough to start fire.whether one gets compansation or not still it is a loss.have to start from beginning.cant be a jealous activity possible.

    Yogesh, please be sensible while commenting. That person lost 1.5 acre of plantation, which would cost 10 to 15 lakhs. Not 2 lacks. the compensation, we rubber planters receive is not even 20%. its common to have fire on rubber plantation in this time.
    for your kind knowledge, rubber tapping season not yet over.

    you can hire tappers but not a watchmen for safegaurding lakhs of worth property?...looks like didn't learn from forest fires during this time to take precaution
