Udupi, Feb 2: The 20th Udupi zilla panchayat body meeting was held on Saturday at V S Acharya auditorium Rajathadri, Manipal here.
Shankar Poojary Katpady speaking on the gram vikas project implementation said the project was very much delayed and five villages had not been mentioned in the list. The sites were distributed but work is still pending. The state government has approved funds of Rs 3.75 crores which will be distributed to five villages considering the dense population. MLA has the power of selecting the particular village.
CEO Kanakavalli clarified that there are 143 reserved sites in the district. Rs. 3000 per cent has been allotted.
Mallika Balakrishna Pujary said, there is ample fertile government land available in the Brahmavar area, but some land has been acquired by private people. Government must take immediate action and should reject the applications which already have sites.
The Narega project has completely failed to be established and managed in the district. In Karkala Taluk, they were granted only Rs. 9000 out of Rs. 35, 000 for a cow shed. Rs. 2.93 lakhs is pending as wages and Rs. 38 lakhs towards material payment. Rs. 5.40 lakhs is pending for toilet construction. Shankar Pujary said that the people lacked awareness about Udyoga Khatri Yojana.
In addition to this he also said Rs. 35 lakhs was approved and Rs. 65 crores is in demand.
Approximately Rs. 50 lakhs has been approved by the state as clarified by the concerned department. Rs. 20 lakhs out of Rs. 50 lakhs has been distributed in one day.
Mamatha R Shetty demands immediate installation of a public well in Shankarnarayana area for 8 separate families. She expressed agitation for the delayed process of water supply by the department along with. She demanded immediate repair of road at Airbailu which was damaged by Varahi canal project work.
DDPI said the special nodal officers have been appointed for the betterment of SSLC results.
Ganpati Sriyan urged to provide extra classes in other schools for drawing teachers. At present they are taking 12 classes a week. There were 53 art teachers in the district.
Manjunath Pujary held a dharna for a minute in the midst of the meeting for disrespecting his post during the spot investigation.
The other issues such as illegal construction, Bahugrama multi village drinking water supply project, delay in the function of site distribution were discussed during the meeting under the leadership of ZP president Shivanand Kotian.
ZP vice president Prakash Mendon, Arun Shetty Padur, president of agriculture and industry standing committee, Indira Shetty, social justice standing committee and others were present.
Health standing committee member Gowri Devadiga was disappointed that her question was excluded in the agenda. Ananth Mavody was absent at the meeting. The meeting commenced with the government’s circular.
