Mangaluru, Mar 2: A man was caught by the public and thrashed for allegedly eve-teasing and misbehaving with girls near Vishal Nursing Home here on Monday March 2.

Mahantesh from Belagavi was allegedly behaving indecently with girls, when some passersby intervened and caught hold of him.

While Mahantesh was being thrashed, Barke police rushed to the spot and took him away.

As he was badly bruised, he was admitted to Wenlock hospital.

Police said more details would be known only after he is taken into custody and questioned.

First of all, let me make it clear tha, what this man has done is wrong both legally and morally. What the public has done may not be wrong morally, but that's certainly is wrong legally. India is a democratic country and every citizen should abide by law of the nation. No one has any power to thrash the other person. Im sure there would have been hundreds of comments if this act was done by the moral police condemning them, instead of praising the public for their act. I certainly don't support the moral policing but just giving an example of how we judge an act based on the circumstances and the people involed in it. This kind of eve teasing is happening not because public is keeping a closed eye, but our police and legal system is so weak that, they are an invitation for such acts themselves. India needs a strong police force, and even stronger judicial system. Not thareek pe thareek .......thareek pe thareek ......I know how frustrating it is to witness these things, but please do have fath in the system and dont be the system yourself .....Jai Hind.

    Yogesh, Mumbai,

You try to do the same in Mumbai. You will come to know.

In my opinion, the passerby should be justified for the action he had taken.
Our police usually arrive only at the end.
There is some sense of social responsibility among our present youth. Let others (eve teasers) take a lesson.

    Yohesh mumabi
first call your place correctly, it is Mumbai, Bombay is old fashion now.
secondly what is too much ? are you want your sister/daughter get teased with such goons here?
i think public has done right job. for these type of road romeos this is only treatment required.
and third you don't come here nor anyone one wants here be there in Mumbai and do your activity.

This is not first time this is happening. Recent 1 or 2 weeks 3 cases of this...goodaism, rowdism as the of a hat should not be our culture. The guy should have been reprimanded not thrashed for just whistling or saying what a beauty. Moreover there were 2 girls not one and also their neighbour friend it seems

Well, You are just defending yourself by saying that, If someone tells that this is Taliban so be it.

Well if you say that whistling and saying what a beauty is okay with you, well I guess you don't have a female at home.

You are from Mumbai and should remember the sacrifice by Reuben Fernandez and Keenan Santos who laid their life to save their friends from getting eve teased.

There are lot such case my friend where people have died support the cause.
