Mangaluru: Right-wing activists waylay rice truck, allege illegal transportation

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Mar 2: Members of a right-wing outfit on Monday March 2 waylaid a truck allegedly transporting rice illegally near Maroli here and handed it over to the police.

The outfit alleged that the truck was transporting rice without any valid documents like bill for the rice load.

It is said on receiving information about the alleged illegality, the outfit members had kept a watch on the government-run godown at Maroli and on Monday, waylaid the truck soon after it from the godown.

The driver of the truck allegedly offered Rs 25,000 to the actvists, and they refused, he hiked the amount to Rs 50,000 and still they rejected, sources said.

They then handed over the driver as well as the truck to Kadri police.

The police took the truck to the police station and on inspection, found 60 bags of rice in it.

However, whether the rice was being transported legally or illegally would be known only after inspection by officers of food and civil supplies department, who arrived at the police station later.

The driver has been detained. It is learnt that the rice was being transported to Bantwal, and the driver is also from the same place.

If you think it is only for those KUJULI people, you are downgrading the forum and yourself...
By the way, when there is no reply, people try to defend themselves by blaming others for KUJULI... or any other words to deviate from the issue...

You mean... constitution gives right for the rice thives to steal from godown...:-):-)

And the same constituion does not give right for the responsible citizens to catch the thives and handover to police?????

In fact your congress government in Karnataka has done corrections to constitution, so that even police can not catch thives... after "Kabir" incident....

@Ismail Perije, you are right.we dont Need Police. That know it too well and relax and wait for their arrive or call what is going on in and around.only then they come and take over.still the question remains.what will happen later to this Rice ?Both will have their Portion and take home?and when cattle is caught?who Looks after the cattle?or will be sold and Money will be flowing to sanghas?am interested.we have really lost faith in our constitution, freedom.I am not against when something wrong is call the Police and they do the questioning.no, here it is someoneelse is taking the right in own Hands. Why does the Police dont question them about their activity? That interesting me.did they not tell sometime back about severe punishment about taking law in their Hands?Injustice is going everywhere.but supporting it ,is another fact.

Good show! every concerned citizen should start such force and keep a vigil! Jaago graahak Jaago! ... jo galat hai woh galat! Hindu/muslims/christians should do this vigil, because, officials are too busy in such work! this grain is meant for common people! smuggling of all kind, cattle, gold, rice, srigandha, liquor, wood - people should form a group and stop! id one right winger goes and takes bribe, other group should set him a trap and make sure, you catch all of them! good luck!

" Anna Bhagya " is the right word here. This must have been meant to be distributed to poor people, BPL ration card holders at various Ration Shops. But instead it might be going to shops on lie for sale at a higher rate. Govt gives it at rs.1/- per kilo & they sell it at rs. 10/- or so per kilo - wow look at this " Anna Bhagya " scheme.
Offering bribe on being caught means it is surely meant to be illegal transportation.
Hope police will check on this in detail n punish the culprits.
