Mangaluru: Hate comments against Christianity on Facebook page - Case filed

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Mar 2: Christian leaders on Monday March 2 submitted a memorandum to police commissioner S Murugan and to deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim complaining about hate comments posted on Daijiworld Facebook page by a user. Based on the complaint, case has been registered in Pandeshwar police station.

Shriram Yadapaditthaya, a Facebook user, allegedly posted hate comments on the news link to 'Mangaluru: Ghar Wapsi not a big issue: Sadhvi Balika Saraswati at Kadri Temple' posted on daijiworld.com's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/daijiworldnews ) on Sunday March 1.

Screenshot of Shriram's Facebook profile page

The hate comments used abusive language to criticize Christianity and Jesus Christ. As soon daijiworld received complaints about the user, the abusive comments were deleted from the page.

On Monday March 2, Christian leaders submitted a memorandum to the police commissioner and the DC stating that the comments by Shriram had hurt the sentiments of the community.

They stated in the memorandum that Shriram's derogatory comments were a direct attack on the Christian community, and that no one has the right to insult people of other religions.

They also stated that comments like 'Christians should be slaughtered' posted by Shriram were in violation of the IPC Section 144, and such words were an attempt to disrupt peace and harmony in society.

"The person has done gross injustice to Christianity, Indian values and to Hindu religion which preaches harmony. The comments posted by him are against the core tenets of the Indian Constitution. Hence, as the person is a threat to the peace and harmony of society, he should be taken into custody immediately and stringent action must be taken," they appealed.

PRO of Mangaluru diocese Fr William Menezes, secretary of Laity Commission Fr J B Crasta, director of ICYM Mangaluru diocese Fr Ronald D'Souza, Roy Castelino, Sheldon Crasta and Stany Alvares were part of the delegation.

Speaking to daijiworld, police commissioner S Murugan said that the case has already been registered in Pandeshwar police station and strict action would be taken against the person. Mangaluru diocesan youth president Melreeda Rodrigues
former diocesan youth president Nelson Monis along with others filed the complaint in Pandeshwar police station.

Pandeshwar police said that Shriram resides in Bengaluru and the cyber crime police in Bengaluru have been alerted as the case falls under the IT Act.

Shriram, however, has expressed regret for his comments and apologized on the same news link on Daijiworld's Facebook page. The apology, in the form of a comment, reads: "Hi guys I have taken out all my abusive comments from this site.. I dont need any kind of religion talks anymore.. I take back all my words.. it was done with unknown anger, I repent for that, bye and stop calling me please.."

Clarification from Tesco

Meanwhile, in a statement to daijiworld, Tesco for whom Shriram was earlier working has said that Shriram left the job in December 2014, and that the company has also spoken to him and asked him to apologize. The statement reads as follows:

"We looked up our records and he no longer works for our organization – he left in December 2014.

"As an organization we strongly (condemn) such behavior and we took the initiative to contact him. Our HR director personally spoke with him and asked him to take down his comments online and apologize. I have also written back to all your (daijiworld) readers who corresponded with us about the incident stating our actions and the outcomes.

We are aware that he has done what we asked him to already and his page on Facebook doesn’t reflect the comments anymore," the company stated.

If I am not mistaken, don't you think showing little bit of love & forgiveness is best way of correction rather than sending him to jail. Leave it to God for any punishment.
We don't need to protect our God, He is Mighty & Sovereign, we pray Him for His protection. In Bible which is word of our Mighty God, I can see only Love & forgiveness everywhere

    Now
Why so much hatred towards hated person? Why Christians criticise, moak, demean muslims and hindus in various blogs and get away with it? is it just because they can express those hates in better manner by quoting freedom of speech? Can it not apply to this hated man too? Google and see how many hate messages chrstians have posted in religious blogs condemning both muslims and hindus and their religious practices. So chill no one accepts blashphemy of their religion.

No one has the right to insult or say anything negative about any religion. We are taught to respect all religions. This insane so called shriram is an educated illiterate. He should be given good punishment so that seeing this the other insane brain washed guys may not repeat. Who is he to insult about Jesus? If he doesn't know the religion let him not just write any nonsense which hurts our sentiments. Give him the harsh punishment, spank him properly. He wants to show the world that his religion is good and others bad? Big time INSANE guy. Hats off to the young people who came forward and filed a case against him.

He needs to be sacked immediately. TESCO is a multinational based in the UK. Namak Haram, what is the use of his education ??? stooping to such a low level. Sack him ASAP.
    "

Last night I had written to TESCO and forwarded the article / pictures from Daijji - TESCO promptly replied to me -saying he has left TESCO in December 2014 - none the less, clearly stating that action has been initiated against Sri Ram for his derogatory comments and using the TESCO logo on his FB page.

People like Sriram are dangerous to our society, they are sly operators and are influenced by rhetoric given by the likes of Balika sadhvi and her ilk.

Happy the church has taken up the matter. Home Minister George should go all out an see that justice is done and such hate campaigns are nipped in the bud, otherwise living in peace is in danger.

This kind of semi literate people give Hinduism a bad name. Hindu Dharma is well respected around the world as a tolerant faith.

But fools like Yadapaditthaya and High School out Sadhvi Balika have made a 6000 year old faith into an "Anti-Minority CULT".

Poking nose into others religion will effect the credibility of Hinduism.

Pejawar Swamiji, Shri Veerendra Hegde and other senior pontiffs must talk sense into right wing rabids like these and restraint them from attacking other faiths lest Hinduism will lose its true essence.

    Anyway Sorry for any misunderstanding....
As Ramu has apologised, shall we forgive him now? Shall our priests take back the complaint as a good example to our society and leave it to God. What's your opinion?
1 Peter 2:12 in Bible says

"As Ramu has apologised, shall we forgive him now?"
    - Do you know if 'Ramu' has apologised before Jesus Christ and to man?
    - Has the community to which he belongs told him to change his ways? Do they care about the boy and his eternal salvation?
    - Since you are a new Christian, ask a Priest to help you to differentiate between correction and revenge and what a penitent person must do.

First of all I would like to lament the comments of this young lad Sriram. He is only representing the many youth who take all the benefits of Christian organizations and their global products and finally cast the first stone.
This is for the information of Sriram and his likes. If Christianity was converting in India then, how has its percentage declined from 2.92 in 2000 to 2.26 in 2013. It should have actually increased if the claimed conversions were taking place.
Secondly I would like to congratulate the forum that includes Roy Castelino and team that has come forward to take these hate comments case up with the authorities.
I humbly request that the forum not to draw back on the case sighting forgiving values of Christianity etc, rather please try to push for all the provisions of IPC and cyber cell crime to see that the culprit gets prosecuted with the highest punishment. This case should be an example for all those who involve in hate practices against fellow humans and their religions. The culprit in question chose to put his family and career at stake and just apologizing now cannot reverse what his mind is made up of.

There are thousands of such religious fanatic trolls pervading online social sites or news portals. They have one simple mission, that's to distract , disrupt any logical debate with abusive , illogical and repetitive comments. This dolt of a guy just has taken this to an abysmal level. One can easily assume how dumb headed this person is exposing himself for criminal action , thus endangering his career if he has one. It appears sanity has dawned upon him too late.He has expressed regrets over such comments fearing the worst. While I am against curtailment of freedom of expression , his call for slaughtering people based on religion is a pure law and order issue and should be dealt as such. As for his abusive language against Jesus or Christians, I think people are free to condemn him but how can idiotic comments of an ignoramus person tarnish the image of a religion or God? If we keep on demanding to ban any criticism of religion then one day we may not be able to open our mouths against any fake god men whose numbers are increasing day by day. The best way is to ignore such comments rather than reacting with more abuses or at the worst such comments. They have done the right thing by approaching the police rather than staging public protests since you are dealing with a misguided individual.

You cannot ignore his malicious comments saying that it was done by heat of the moment. It is clearly a deliberate attempt to create hatred towards a religion and communal unrest in society. First of all he is not a minor nor insane. Also if someone commits a murder in fit of rage or heat of the moment, law does not let him free. Such serious of offense cannot be overlooked.

    From his FB page:

In 1902, a professor asked his student whether it was God who created everything that exists in the universe?
    Student replied: Yes
    He again asked:
    What about evil?
    Has God created evil also?
    The student got silent...
Then the student requested that may he ask a question for him?
Professor allowed him to do so.
    He asked: Does cold exist?
Professor said: Yes! Don't you feel the cold dear?
Student said: I'm sorry but you are wrong sir. Cold is a complete absence of heat...
There is no cold, it is only an absence of heat.
    Student asked again:
    Does darkness exist?
    Professor Said: Yes!
Student replied: you are again wrong sir. There is no such thing like darkness. Its actually the absence of light.
Sir! We always study light & heat, but not cold & darkness.
Similarly, the evil does not exist. Actually it is the absence of love, faith & true belief in God.
    That student was...
    Vivekananda...!!!
Can't stop myself to share this with all....
    Very inspiring message...

HE DOESN'T KNOW THAT VIVEKANANDA DIED IN 1902. SAD CASE!

We must forgive his mistake, yes we do. There is a difference if he is telling to some close friends this desire but while publishing through the facebook shows his greater dreams and motivating others to do so. There is an underlying deadly plan has formed in his mind, and if he is out, he can hurt people. Many of the young criminals give some hints at first before undertaking the actions.

I am failed to understand how jailing someone reforms them. Recent example in front of our eyes Delhi rapists who have no remorse of their action after spending years in Jail.

Even if you insist and Jail him there is another group of people who want such people in their arsenal and will secure his release. End result this guy will be more hardcore than what he is now.

Instead of Jailing him if there is Psychological counselling won't it find out atleast the reasons why people have such extreme views.

I have a simple question to people who insist jail for him. Few days back a saint asked to arm the young girls and if any ... guy looks at them then chop the onions. Is that statement less grave then what purported statement this guy made.

After all this guy is a foot soldier. Bigger evils who instigate people roam free in the country. Tackle the bull holding horns not by tail. I sympathize with this guy and many more such people who have no idea to the trap they are falling in.

Putting anyone to jail does not reform rather it makes them hardcore criminals by the exposure to the extreme conditions of Jail.

Best solution is psychological counselling to soften him. It will have far reaching impact in long run.

If you are adamant on jailing then all the opportunist selfish leaders be it political , religious or any sort who provoke the people for their benefit by twist and turns should be in jail first.
If you could accomplish that 90% of the hate mongers will vanish from society.
