Bangalore, Jan 31: Zee Kannada, the popular regional TV channel, will launch ‘Kuniyonu Baara’, a unique dance competition for celebrities of the Kannada film industry from Monday February 5.

A press release stated that celebrity stars like Neethashree, Ashitha, Arjun, Tarun and Monica, will be teamed up as couples with well known choreographers Gokul, Vasanth, Nandini, Chitra, Ajaz and others. Each episode will have a different theme and couples will compete with the each other for 12 weeks.  Viewers can vote from the very first episode and see their favourite pair win the finals.

Apart from the star attraction of the participants, the show will also have impressive names such as the renowned choreographer Chinni Prakash and the current favourite film director Prakash as the judges. Along with them, every episode will also have celebrity stars like Jayanti, Ravichandran, Anu Prabhakar as the third judge.

Dancer, programmer and celebrity radio jockey Chaitanya Hegde, and dancer, instructor at the Shiamak Davar Dance Institute and TV presenter Meghana will be the anchors on the show, stated the press release.

‘Young celebrities of Kannada film industry are coming together for the first time for a fun-filled, healthy dance competition. “Kuniyonu Baara”, is an attempt to present different forms of dance under one roof with class, style and chic to better any Bollywood standards in glamour and performance. One must see it to believe it,’ said Malavika Avinash, programming head, Zee Kannada.

She also added, ‘Kuniyonu Baara is a sincere attempt to encourage and present the inherent dancing talent of Kannada film celebrities, for the first time to the Kannada television viewers. The show is Zee Kannada’s gift to the lovers of dance, music, fun and style.’


The show will be telecast every Mondays at 8 pm, the release stated.
