Udupi, Mar 2: In a tragic incident, the driver of a police vehicle ended his life by hanging himself from a tree near his house at Handadi Hosal near Barkur here on Monday March 2.

The deceased has been identified as Arun (35). He had been serving as a driver for the vehicle of Brahmavar circle inspector for the past one-and-a-half years.

It is said that for the past few months Arun was suffering from a serious illness and about two-and-a-half months ago he took leave from work and was staying home.

Sources said that the financial condition of his family was also not good, and that his father has been suffering from mental illness. All this had reportedly pushed him into depression.

Arun was unmarried. He was in the police department for the last 15 years and in 2012, he was transferred to Brahmavar police circle.

He leaves behind his parents and a sister.

I am painful to read the news. Instead of taking such step he should have approached some organistion for help and i am sure they will be ready to help him taking into consideration his poverty. I wish Hindu samajotsave organisers should work on such humanity acts rather than wasting their strength in creating disturbance int he society. They should work on unity int he society rather than dividing the society. They should concentrate on development of society and not for destruction. I express my condolence to Father and sister of this Policeman. I am sure he was a noble and simple policeman. This is really a loss to our society. Let us help such decent people who are not taking illegal steps to earn money and prefer to end life.

Modern society has less time in focusing ground reality, instead wasting more time and money on dream world. I feel pity on this police driver that nobody noticed or helped him.

It is sad that a precious life should end this way. From the account the young man was a good policeman and perhaps poverty is the cause of the suicide.
