Next season of 'Downton Abbey' could be Maggie Smith's last

London, March 3 (IANS): Actress Maggie Smith has added fuel to long-running speculation that the upcoming sixth season of period drama “Downton Abbey” would be the last for the series.

Even if the show lasts beyond the sixth season, the 80-year-old thinks she may no longer be part of it, reports aceshowbiz.com.

When asked whether the sixth season will be the last season of series, Smith told the Sunday Times newspaper: “They say this is the last one, and I can't see how it could go on.”

Talking about her character, Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham, she added: “I mean, I certainly can't keep going... To my knowledge, I must be 110 by now. We're into the late 1920s.”
