Mangaluru: AI flight makes emergency landing, saves life of Russian passenger

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Mar 3: In a case that has come to light with some delay, a Russian citizen who suffered from paralytic stroke when travelling by an Air India flight mid air, was saved by an alert and considerate pilot of Air India flight. The flight made an emergency landing at the airport here last Tuesday February 24 for providing medical attention to the said passenger.

The Air India flight, which was moving to Mumbai from Thiruvananthapuram, made unscheduled landing here, as a Russian passenger named Artur Izotov (47), developed complications. It is gathered that the passenger has since been discharged and gone ahead with his future plans.

Air India has of late been in the news often for wrong reasons including delayed flights, seat allotment complications, rude behaviour with passengers, etc. The above incident however, has been a refreshing change from this routine.

The said flight landed here at 2.02 pm because of the seriousness of the passenger's condition, it is learnt. The flight resumed its onward journey after about 30 minutes.

An ambulance was kept ready beforehand, and the patient was immediately examined before being taken to a private hospital in the city. Because of timely care provided, the passengere showed good progress, and was fit the next day. The doctors opined that any delay in providing treatment would have complicated his condition. He had planned Goa tour. Therefore, he left to Goa by train after being discharged from the hospital, it is gathered.

"Do u know abt russian drug mafia ruining goan youth? ignorance is bliss?"

Do you blame our country also in same tone because there are countless criminals, drug users, rapists so on.....

Why blame a country or the administration for drug abuse. First of all, blame the users of narcotics. Also understand that supply meets demand.

    You can increase your knowledge.

    Yogesh,

If you are blaming the suppliers of drugs, also blame those who use such narcotics. We cannot direct such allegations on a country or the administration. Where there is demand there is supply. I do think any government (other than rogue)encourages drug abuse.

    @ Hakim,

If you happen to fly in Domestic Airlines, try to pretend that you are critically ill and wait for the reaction. I am not wishing you anything bad but just for your comments.

Capt. Sir, Nothing like words coming from horse's mouth! But my 2 cents - When regular route pilots skidded Dubai-Mlore Airindia express... would it not be stupidity to risk lives of so many aboard a long-haul flight for a sick russian pax?Are there no inflight-paramedics to act on these exigencies? What a sorry state of affairs!

Dear Yogesh ,ther are no paramedics on board.Cabin crew are trained to take care of basic medical emergencies. You have to call for a doctor who is travelling as a passenger.Pilots don't see the nationality of a passenger when he is sick.Life is very precious. Please don't recall the crash at this juncture. We have also lost 2 of our family members. Please send me your email ID to eddlobo_42@ hotmail.com so that I will send some appreciation letters issued by IA for saving the life of sick passengers on board.I am not trying to show off but trying to enlighten your mind.I never expected a mangalorean to write like this .Our hospitality and culture is well known all over the world. Please get out of your mindset .
